Serious questions to those upset with this-
1) Do you think LSU has the pieces in place to make a run at the BCS in the next several seasons?
2) How much do you think it is worth to keep that shot, if so?
3) Who is available, and at what price, that we could hire right now to keep things moving that way?
2) a lot
3) very few and a lot

If he gives him 5mil and tells him to fire crowton, I'm OK with that.
quote:i love how after one good win, everyone thinks we are on the fast track to a BCS title next year. everyone wants to pay him like he already won the 2011 NC. i seem to remember this year, 3 bounces go the other way and we are running his arse outta town. 11-2 was good, but hes a long way from his 2nd BCS title. and dont forget- we lead off with oregon next year....
if he goes 14-0 and a BCS title, then he's worth every penny. It's stupid to give him a big raise right now

Not $5M its $4M with incentives like BCS SECCG etc with all could reach $5M. For instance if he won the NC

Thats not too bad if they remove the buyout

ake 3.5 and get Patterson.
This won't be easy and no way Patterson would do it for 3.5

I've been one of the posters here that has said that LSU must keep Miles at all cost due to the current environment regarding the lack of available, proven coaches. But wouldn't we be better off offering 4 million to 4.5 million to say...Patterson,Saban,Fisher,Peterson,etc. ?
In the end,
Les is 57 and will retire probably within the next 5-6 years. I don't think we'll be paying the entirety of his contract anyway.

take 3.5 and get Patterson. No buyout and $5M for LM when he's already got an unbelievable contract is absurd
But can you get Patterson?
He hasn't left TCU yet, so why would he leave now?
In a perfect world I would agree with you, but thats a hell of a gamble. Let Miles walk then you can't get Patterson to leave TCU. Then the next guy in line who will in all likely hood won't be as good as Miles will have LSU over a barrel. LSU will end up spending more money on a even worse coach.

1. Yes we are poised to make a run
2. It's not worth a penny more than we are paying now.
3. There are a list of candidates that have been talked about and the price to get most of their services is less than we pay Miles. A more incentive based structured contract is more appropriate with a base of 2.5 to 3 mill unless of course we signing Urban?

He holds the trump card. "If you don't want me to go to Michigan, what can you do about my contract?" Like an earlier poster said, it's basic market economics.

If Alleva pays $5 million for Les Miles he should be fired on the spot.
Les isn't worth what we are paying him now, much less another cool million on top.

Four pages on a rumor that probably isn't true.

You never know he may take the "Saban" position where there's nothing you can do to convince me to stay here. I realize that was the NFL calling, but it all depends on how bad Coach Miles wants to go to Michigan, not necessarily how bad they want him. A humble opinion.
