He's only worth 2.5-3 mil as a coach.

If the two choices are Les stays, or we hire Pelini, I'd rather Miles stay (although, Pelini would be a solid hire) ... but at $5M? Wow. If that's the case, Alleva better make damn clear Les will hire a new OC and will hire someone to watch the gameclock for him.

He'll end up making that eventually anyways if he stays

I think he is and if he stays it will be worth it when we win the BCSNC next year.
And then he'll want 8 mill.

His worth or value is only what someone is willing to pay for his services. It's probably going to end up being highest bidder. That's not a slap at his character or anything, but he holds the trump card. Now, if LSU says no and let's him go to Mich., if this is true, then LSU will have to decide what they'll have to pay someone else to come in and take over. And it will not be cheap. There's a lot of people who make way more than they're "worth" but someone's willing to pay that amount.

Smart move if true IMO.
There's no known upgrade available... you know what Les is going to give you and this contract locks him up for life.

5 mill for Miles is very far fetched. I want him to stay but that is fricking ridiculous.

if the rollover and buyout provisions were removed, then it probably wouldn't be a bad deal. (assuming Crowton is canned)

don't want les to leave but we should not pay a higher contracted price for him. 1 time bonus is the only acceptable reaction to him asking for more $
Posted on 1/9/11 at 4:06 pm to Camp Randall
i don't think it's that far out of the real of possibility. alleva may not think there are any upgrades out there and is willing to spend some extra cash to keep stability in the program. 5 mill for a big time college coach is about to become the norm anyway.

Should be riots in the streets if true. No way CLM is worth $5 mil.
Posted on 1/9/11 at 4:06 pm to 1999
I think we should all become razorback fans. They've actually become a better team under Petrino. If we can't get a coach like him, I say go hogs!

Agreed. I don't blame Miles for playing this game. Alleva wasn't exactly supportive of him earlier.
Now Les is getting revenge. It must taste sweet, if true.
