Everyone who isn't an LSU fan realizes we don't get the most out of our talent. This is nothing new.

Alabama doesn't have the in state talent. They need an incredible recruiter like Saban to sustain a top 5 program. Look what they had before he got there. Florida has an unlimited supply of 4 and 5 star players in their back yard.

You're right, most of us are not as delusional as you and your post.

At my last count only 27% of Alabama players are from Bama

Lsu 70 %

Lsu is #1 in players on NFL teams

This is a real testament to the coaching staff at lsu yet many think players coach themselves and get to the nfl without development in college

We're not all delusional, but you are if you really believe that LSU is the best coaching job in the country.

It's the top coaching job in America . A decent coach would dominate the NCAA !

You can make an argument LSU is a top 10 job. To say it's top 5, you've got purple and gold glasses on. To say a "decent coach" would dominate the NCAA at LSU is just absurd. We have a decent coach now and we are not dominating. Even with Saban, we would not dominate. We may have one more NC than what Miles has, but I doubt we'd have more than that.

Per capita of course!
We are fourth in raw numbers

Per capita PLUS no in state competition means domination, that is just as good as being overall WITH competition.

The OP makes a great point, any good coach can win and win big at LSU, and put together a better program and offense than Les Miles has in the past 10 years. We have easily missed out on 2 more SECC's and another NC because of him.

You have to wonder why they 'wait' until the NFL to excel.

No Heisman's
No top 10 offenses
No top QB, RB or WR pick or top 10 offensive players picked in first round since JR
Only 1 NC
Missed out on 2 more SECC's that were basically wrapped up like a Christmas present.
Missed out on another NC in 2011 and should have been another in 2006.

All that talent.

which isn't the same as overall talent. Louisiana does not have the most football talent in the country. They do for their size, but that is not the same

There are probably 4 jobs objectively better than LSU (Ohio state, Texas, USC and Florida), and another 5 or 6 that are on the same level.

The per capita thing isn't a consolation prize, though. Because LSU is the only major program in-state, they have a major advantage over schools in Texas, California, and Florida, where there is a ton of legit competition for that larger pool of talent.

I realize LSU doesn't get it all to themselves, but even with Texas and some other SEC schools poaching a few players, LSU can still build the foundation for a very talented program year in, year out, without having to leave the state. That allows them to target a few key OOS guys to fill needs and improve overall talent. That helps keep the recruiting budget from taking over the athletic dept.

Except he wasn't talking about LSU. He was talking about the entire state of Louisiana in the NFL. That includes players that went to school in state as well as those that went to school to play for USC.
