Have a "possible short list" just in case Dallas continues to tank....Remember, Miles has ties to the Cowboys and Jerry Jones has mentioned Miles before as a possible HC....may not happen-but be prepared.

If the Saints drill them Sat in the Dome....ya may start to hear some rumblings!!!

Alleva should always have a list because you never know. It should only include names we would have a realistic shot at getting and are qualified for the position.

Mine would include

Tommy Tuberville
Jeff Jagasindski (spelling)
Gary Pinkel
Gary Patterson

I like your list but I think Chris Peterson and Norm Chow could be good as well. Just curious-the guy at Vanderbilt....Johnson..what would he do with the talent at LSU...he does as well as anyone at Vandy..just wondering!!

As a Saints fan, I'll pay part of the buyout to get him to Dallas.

Miles would not be a bad NFL coach...he is a good manager and he does a great job of fixing things in the off-season.

If Dallas comes and get Miles and LSU decides to go ahead and get Saban back, do the Gumps still put up the statue?

You are correct sir. It boggles the mind to think that college AD's don't have "short lists" and aren't always thinking one step ahead ... but in every situation where LSU has had a coaching search, the AD looks unprepared, i.e., deer in the headlights. None of this "hire a search firm" ... hogwash. A good AD should have feelers out, should be talking to agents, have a good idea who would be interested.

FWIW, to me, the obvious guy they'd look at, if Miles bolted to the Cowboys, would be Tuberville. He is available, knows the SEC, and could come in and quickly take over. He's a jerk, but maybe that's what LSU needs.

But, I don't think Miles is going anywhere.

___________
Jack Del Rio
___________

The guy has been an average NFL head coach. What makes everyone think he would be the savior here?

Tuberville would do well with the players we have but what happens to recruiting?

I agree Miles is here for a while.

I have no idea what the obsession with Del Rio is around here. I've never heard anyone state an actual reason why he would even be considered. Am I missing something?

Let's see.... Spurrier, Carroll, Saban. I see no NFL championship coaching here. Yet they make pretty good college coaches. He has fire and a decent pedigree.
