I have a hard time explaining to Northerners that South Louisiana (LAF, BTR, NOLA) doesn't have much of an accent. Some have a cajun accent, but the cringeworthy typical southern accent isn't found here...hiring Larry "Southern Accent" Fedora doesn't help me make that explanation.

Cajun talking Ed? Works
Jimbo or Herman? Works

Still don't get it? LINK

It's pathetic that some in our fan base would, quite literally, choose a coach based on his fricking accent. You all are fricking idiots.

How did Saban's West Virginia dialect and upbringing translate down here?

frick off with this bullshite. Aside from frickin' Joe Pesci, you're not going to get a more peculiar fit than Les Miles.

And for the record, the entire fanbase and alumni is not Cajun. Hell, probably less than a third are.

You couldn't tell them Fedora was born in Texas?

They don't understand that people move?

Fedora = Rick Perry

So the majority of the fanbase would vote against him?

We certainly wouldn't want Belicheck and his northern accent or Pete Carroll and his west coast accent. It's Cajun gibberish or bust for our next HC!

So we are now looking at these creds-
1. Must speak Cajun
2. Must win games he should win
3. Must bring in top notch coordinators to be successful
4. Must get players fired up
5. Must have learned from his last job and be better than 10-25 next time
6. Must not have lost a game this year with current team unless it's Bama
7. Moral victories selectively count

What else is our new criteria list?

The coach doesn't doesn't have to speak cajun. I just don't want to feed into the Southern stereotype by hiring a Southern accented coach. Click the link in the original post to better understand why.

USC did just that. Passed over "rough around the edges" Orgeron for "hunk" Steve Sarkisian. They wanted a guy who fit the slick LA image.

It didn't work out well obviously, but my point is that it sometimes is a factor.

Orgeron (or any other non southern accented coach) would be better for our image.

Sure I'll campaign for him during the 2016 election, but i damn sure don't need him re-elected for the 2017 election cycle.

Lmao! You believe that don't you?? Definitely didn't have anything to with O's time at Ole Miss or that Sarkisian had a much more successful track record as an HC. Contrary to what you may think, most football programs hire guys based on their coaching resumes and not "if they walk and talk like us."

Because of his booze problem not because he failed at his previous job like O. Do you have any articles that mention "one of the factors O was not made HC was because he didn't fit in in L.A."?

You know what's best for our image? Winning fricking football games and getting back in to the top of the SEC West again. We just had a guy who was great "for our image" and recruiting, but couldn't quite figure the rest out. Now you're saying let's just do that all over again. Jfc...people never cease to amaze me.

ZERO points and 125 yards of offense with the same old conservative Miles type game plan on offense. Sad. Just sad.
