I edited my post. See above.

You bring up a good point. Louisville will give admittance to any kid that meets the NCAAs guidelines.

Strong at Miami would do really well.

They said on tv that Texas is ready to open the bank

Said last yr they were ready to pay Saban 100 mill

If Hermans the choice, they wont be outbid. Maybe he doesnt like how Texas runs their program, this is the only reason this deal wont get done imo

look at the rosters across cfb

man LSU recruits a lot of DBs who played in TX

and UT once was DBU

the state of TX produces a lot of DBs. UT just isn't recruiting the right ones or developing what they get

Texas HS football can produce good Qbs and offensive talent, but is absolutely horrible at the defensive side of the ball.

I still don't know why, either. Maybe they like 7 on 7 too much or something

If Texas has a chance at Herman and the only thing in their way is getting rid of Strong, he's gone. I don't think it matters what else he does this year, tbh.

I talked with a Texas fan yesterday. He said he wants him to be successful because he is black.

I asked what does race have to do with it.

He said because it is going to be really hard to fire him, even if he goes 0-12

It must make some folks in austin unhappy to see a black man 5-0 down in College Station and while this may not make any difference to those under 40, seems the Texas leadership is not so enlightened as a bunch of old guys. It will be interesting to watch.

they'll know whether they have herman in the bag before the end of the season. if they do, they'll fire strong.

Earl Thomas and????????

I am only talking about the last 10/15 years.

Look at Bob Stoops and OU. They were an incredible defensive minded team
Back in early 2000s.

Not so much nowadays

A&M was the first of the big Texas schools to hire a black coach. UTx will be the first to fire one. Great optics!

Lets not act like sumlin is firmly entrenched at tamu. Entered the season on the hot seat. He may be 5-0 but we've seen this movie before....

Sumlin's not going to get fired for 9 wins, which is what is going to happen this year, worst case.

So the fact remains that UTx was a follower when it came to finally hiring a black HC but will be the first to fire one.

The optics of that are terrible. Black Lives and Mark May are going to go nuts saying that he was "set up to fail".

That's why I think y'all may be being a little dramatic assuming they'll fire him and get Herman. 1) Charlie may not do poorly enough for them to stomach firing for political reasons. 2) Herman may not want to walk into a race riot shitstorm.

Have a little faith.

And he is foolish to take the LSU job over theirs. Down vote me all you want, but that is a much better job for long term success numbers. Easier conference, endless talent, high paying to win a pair of must wins every year.

Besides Earl Thomas and Michael Griffin being Pro Bowlers, the Longhorns also produced Michael Huff, Cedric Griffin, Tarell Brown, Aaron Ross, Aaron Williams and Kenny Vaccaro.

In the past decade, only Alabama had more defensive backs drafted (14) than Texas (12). The Longhorns are tied with Alabama for the most first-round picks at defensive back (five).

The big difference: Texas defensive backs have started 200+ more NFL games than those from Alabama since 2006.

Idk what happened to their defense. They were ranked 25th last season. Charlie better go ahead and make some changes to the staff this week.
