Yikes. There's like 5 guys on that list that I would even consider.
Well, yeah. Any given year there aren't more than 3-5 guys who would be considered for a big job like this that are realistic.
IMO, you go after Campbell, Napier, and Kelly and make one of them the guy.

I think his prime has probably passed, but Brian Kelly should have gotten a closer look last time.
He wins, he coaches QB, he calls plays. I'm not sure he would have been a culture fit or a recruiting fit, but he can coach.

Joe Brady Not sure why he is everyone’s first choice, because I know another former LSU coach where a qb made his career and everybody thought he was a god (Hudson Hallman). But joe has proven to be decent in the nfl, and maybe he can bring some magic back here. I think he holds out for an nfl job though, so I doubt we have much of a chance here
I think you meant Brett Favre and Hallman.

Can't. You can't fire O over title IX stuff and then turn around a guy who got caught with Hookers.
Hey, he paid them. He didn’t rape them.

Fickell would bring his DC, who also coaches LBs.

Campbell going to NFL
I don't know. I think he wants to, but the openings this year will be Jets, jags, lions, falcons, Bears, Texans, and one of Chargers/Eagles. So 7 jobs max.
Candidates:
Brian Daboll- Will definitely land one of the spots
Eric Bienemy- Will definitely land one of the spots, although if he was white I doubt anybody would touch him given his history.
Dennis Allen- Has HC experience and has done a great job. He will certainly get a shot as well.
Matt Eberflus- Also great defensive mind will get a shot.
Joe Brady- If the McCoy trend continues, I wouldn't be surprised to see him at the helm somewhere.
That's 4-5 guys who will definitely get hired. Let's also consider some retreads- especially because the NFL is especially woke this year.
leslie Frazier
Todd Bowles
Maybe one of those two guys gets another shot.
Plus, here are some names of other guys in the mix:
Nathaniel Hackett
Byron Leftwich
Josh McDaniels
Greg Roman
Jack Del Rio
Robert Saleh
Brian Schottenheimer
Campbell has a lot of competition. But, maybe a team will take a chance on him just like the Panthers did with Rhule.

It's a long shot, but I'd love for Woodward to give his buddy Chris Petersen a call.

I know some of you will scoff, but he has been very consistent considering the Academic restrictions and recruiting disadvantage ND has. He knows offense well and has hired some pretty good assistants who have gotten poached by OSU and TAMU. That’s the reason he may leave. ND tends to not give him a huge budget for assistants and the lower academic restrictions on recruiting will be attractive here.
Midwest guy and Irish catholic if i am not mistaken. He isnt leaving ND. But would be a fantastic hire if he did.

not leaving the NFl, already articles out he will get a HC job this year or next.

6. Pat Fitzgerald
Model of consistency and wins where it is hard to win. But he is an alumnus and probably won’t leave NW.
will never leave NW
quote:
9. mark Stoops
Has not gotten over the hump at UK, but has them more consistent than they’ve ever been in history. With more talent, perhaps he can win. He would certainly improve the defense.
really? I like him but he has not proven he is capable of such a job. That would go over real well....fire the coach that won an NC and then followed with a losing season to go hire a coach coming off a losing season.
quote:
12. Eli Drinkwitz
Decent resume and has done a fairly good job at Missouri so far. Perhaps he could be a young guy we can poach.
Really? the coach who has been a HC for a whole 2 years? really? wtf

13. Manny Diaz
Miami is known for being cheap. He has good experience and has led Miami to a decent record each year. Not an exciting choice, but his work at Miami this year is impressive.
you realize he is from Miami and its his dream job, he isnt leaving.
quote:
14. David Shaw
He has shown he can win, even at a tough school like Stanford. But his offense scares the hell out of me that we would be back in the Les miles era.
15. Jeff Monken
Has done a great job at Army. Won’t run the option elsewhere but obviously has to at army. Not a top choice, but if it’s between him or staying in house, I choose new blood.
16. Dave Doeren
Good work at N. Illinois but a little underwhelming at NC state, though he has been a fairly consistent winner. You just gotta wonder if he can get it done given a bigger stage and more talent/budget.
17. Pat Narduzzi
Incredible defensive mind, but can’t get over the 8-5 jump at Pitt. Gotta wonder if he can’t recruit or if his offensive style is stuck in the 90s, because he has some absolute beasts on defense this year. He has upset Dabo.
so a coach in shaw that has slowly destroyed Stanford after haurbaugh built them.
a coach in monken who runs the triple option
a coach who failed at NC State and he been on the hot seat for a while there
and a coach whos main sellign point is he upset clemson one year....oh and he also had Canada as his OC and the rant like Canada again.
Napier, Campbell and PJ Fleck are the only options from that list. Sark was not a great coach at UDub and its why he was nicknamed 7 win Sark. he wasnt good at USC. Thats gonna be a No from me.
Would rather Kiffen than half the ones you named. but Napier, Campbell or Fleck would all be good choices with Napier as my #1, Fleck #2 and Campbell #3.

Proven winner and great at creating winning culture. If he wants a job he’s got it
Posted on 12/9/20 at 12:51 pm to lsu777
You missed the point. These are the coaches that we could realistically give a call to. Many will say no, many we don't want anyway (though I'd take ALL of them over the Ogre).
The best options are Campbell (if NFL says no), Kelly (if ND cheaps out like FSU did to Jimbo), and Napier. Napier we could almost certainly land.

no i didnt miss it and I get it. Basically what I am saying is other than the ones you mentioned in campbell, kelly and napier...add fleck and fickell and you are better off letting things run there course with O IMO.
I really like Armys coach, but I dont think he would be a good fit. Personally if the title IX stuff can get O canned, you go after Kelly first and make him say no and he will. Then you go after Campbell and Fleck with Napier in your back pocket. Personally i think Napier ends up a better coach than Campbell and fleck if they dont get to stud programs.

I don't want him, but Notre Dame would let him walk so that they could finally get Urban.
The list begins and ends with Campbell.

15. Jeff Monken

Yall can have Gus Malzahn.

* Urban is not coming here. You obviously make him say no, but he isn’t coming.
* Guys with some kind of history regarding women or racism won’t be hired either. This includes Gundy, Freeze, Franklin, and Briles
That list includes Urban and is a reason he cannot be considered. Look at the crap he has let happen on his teams.
