Neither are NIL and transfer portals with no requirement to sit out a season.

Donati, the TCU AD, acknowledged Tuesday that the change was made immediately because of the recruiting calendar, and a desire to hire Patterson's (insert: "Orgeron's) replacement before the December signing period, which begins Dec. 15.
This is why I say LSU needs to name their new HC sometime this month are in early December.

So taking money out of the equation, why would he come here? I don't know.
To win a natty? Dominate the sport?

You don't think he thinks he can do that at OU?
I'll assume he does want to come to LSU at the moment. What if he gets to the NC? Can we afford to wait to see if he loses before we hire? Because I hope we can agree that if he were to win a NC he's staying at OU?
Pursuing Riley is completely contingent on OU slipping up to a lesser team. Whenever another candidate does that we kill him.

I mean he’s right. Should wait till the end of season.

It is a bad precedent and LSU has now done it twice in succession. The last time we averted disaster. This time we were not so lucky.

It is my belief that LSUs biggest selling point for a coach is that it is currently a top tier SEC program. I think we are beginning to see the end of the NCAA. The SEC is right now the only conference that is assured of weathering that storm. I think a lot of good coaches are going to want to jump into the conference before that ship has sailed.

He's criticizing a trend in football, not condemning any particular institution. And if he is it's TCU, not LSU.
