It's well known that Kiffin was O's first choice at OC. After that it was more of a mad dash/scramble to find someone and several have insinuated that Canada wasn't O's choice. Not that O didn't want him but he was basically given his name and a big arse budget to offer... Well that ended up a dumpster fire and O could've been blamed it on the fact that it wasn't his "idea" to hire Canada.

Maybe they are now saying "Pick your guy.....but if it fails then we are cleaning all your offices out".

And in all honesty, this is how it should be run. Great coaches want to have control over who they work with as assistants(not saying O is a great coach either). So, I really don't fault O for wanting his guys. If we are too ever attract top coaches you have to let them have control over their staff (for the most part). The blame really lies with Alleva and the other idiots who thought hiring O was the right/best option. Their decision is the one that needs the accountability if this little science project blows up.

Still pulling for the Tigers, but it's painful to watch the leadership turn things into a shite show.

Hopefully this is the sentiment, but I doubt we are able to rid ourselves of Orgeron before year three unless the wheels totally come off this year.

But I do agree in letting the coach sink or swim without the AD meddling too much. However, I firmly believe one of the major reasons behind the firing of Miles and the hiring of Orgeron was that Alleva couldn't dictate to Miles and thought he could to Orgeron.

So first item on the agenda should be to get Alleva out of here and hire a much better AD.

Alleva wouldn't be the first AD to demand a change in direction from a head coach and he won't be the last. However, had Miles followed through on his supposed intention to revamp the Tiger offense perhaps he could have prolonged his LSU tenure. It wouldn't have prevented an eventual regime change because Miles would have still lacked a strategic vision of any kind regarding recruiting choices etc.

Folks need to realize that there are only so many Sabans and Meyer out there. For every Kirby Smart there is a Derek Dooley. Look at Fuente. He has the same record at ORgeron in his second year at Va Tech. Consider Fedora, who totally cratered this year. Both of those guys were preferred to O yet neither was a sure fire home run hire for LSU.

O was selected because there were no great, can't miss choices. His recruiting at Ole Miss resulted in Houston Nutt's successes his first two years for the Rebs. So he was hired on his recruiting prowess and his on the field results at his last two interim gigs coupled with a vision of having great Coordinator ala the Dabo model.

We'll see.

So, OP let’s see if I got this right:

Choice A was Kiffin

There was no plan B so O panicked.

He scrambled to hire plan C as in Canada

Now he wants to hire the guy who was plan D. “E” ?

I think O may have hired Ensminger last year if he could have. But he told Alleva (and the fanbase) that he was going get the best coordinator. He just couldn't have sold Ensminger in that role last year. And reaction to the O hire would have been even worse.

I'm not even willing to entertain a HC change until this is done. LSU deserves a better AD than Alleva.

Hell, Division III schools deserve better - the guy's claim to fame is fricking up the Duke lacrosse scandal so badly it ruined an entire team of (ETA: innocent) young men's lives.

pretty much evident the way he moved onto Canada.

sounds correct. He hired a guy he didn't interview worth a crap or was told to pick. The constant job hoping alone is cause for concern. Getting fired at NC State the way he did was cause for concern. That doesn't include all the "rumors" out there. You don't take that big of a risk on a guy with that much potential baggage and pay him that kind of money. It's just stupid. But it's done, so I say let's move on.

I would prefer he is restarting over. New plan A....whoever that is depends on whose sauce you want to believe.

The only problem is in Alleva letting O hang himself. Alleva knows he wont get another shot at picking the next HC. So he has to intervene to save both their jobs

That's why Canada got control back after the Troy game, by way of Alleva
