If we miss on the big fish and are looking at guys like Aranda Tucker or Napier I see absolutely no reason Brohm shouldn’t be included in that group.

Honestly I was surprised to see they were almost .500 over the past five years.

Didn’t realize they were even that high.

Purdue has one conference title since 1967 (Brees) and two since 1952, and hasn’t finished a season ranked since 2003.

Brohm having them at .500 after five years wouldn’t be a bad job imo

Honestly I like him and brought his name up several times in our last coaching search.

Hell half the board is going to melt if we hire the guy that DOES have an NC under his belt

But that was seven years ago!!!!

It’s truly a conundrum

He’s done ok at Purdue, but he doesn’t stand out at all as a P5 coach. No big leap forward. No program-defining moments. Just a couple of nice upsets and a lot of inconsistency.

So we’re shooting for “not bad” now? What James Franklin did at Vandy, a program with even less tradition and tougher academics than Purdue, was far more impressive. THAT stood out. Even with that success, he still hasn’t turned the corner to truly being competitive with OSU.

Now you want to look at a guy who hasn’t accomplished anything in that vicinity yet? No thanks.

What have the other guys in the second tier done that “stood out” any more than what Brohm did at WKU? He won back to back conference titles with elite offensive production.

Have those other guys done anything more than “not bad” at their current jobs?

I’m not pumping Brohm as “the guy”, but if we’re interviewing the second tier guys there really is no reason he shouldn’t be in that pool of candidates as well.

If LSU swings and misses on the big fish, LSU shouldn’t get past Matt Campbell

And Matt Campbell has done a better job at a more difficult school to recruit to than Brohm.

Campbell is one of the biggest fish out there. You can argue that he is a bigger fish than Jimbo, b/c Jimbo was never courted by the NFL.

Yeah I included Campbell in that top tier in my OP. I’m a fan for sure.

There is the possibility he’s a Big 10 Midwest guy though that just isn’t interested in the SEC grind. Not sure if he is or not, just saying I don’t know if money is the only consideration for him.

Brohm only starts to look like a contender when compared with Napier/Aranda/Tucker imo

Did I miss where Campbell was offered an NFL head coaching job?

I know teams probably showed interest him, but was there ever an offer on the table — NFL offers are much more public/media knowledge than college job offers

Edit: According to CBS Sports, Campbell turned down 8 year/ $68M deal with full control to the Lions

So Riley Rhule or Jimbo (apologies to those that don’t consider him a stud)?

What if they all pass, which is certainly possible?

Last offseason

According to CBS Sports, Matt Campbell turned down an 8-year, $68.5 million contract to join the Lions this winter, before the team hired Dan Campbell as coach.

This is another plus in the Campbell file. His judgement is solid

UMMMMM...yall throw around that great coach BS and dont understand what it actually means.

Look he did a great job his first season and then got the Big contract after turning down Louisville. Since then he has been fricking donkey and was on the hot seat before this year. So he has them 6-3, but he still has 3 games left that he still has a very good chance of losing.

so now we are nominating coaches that havent had a winning season in 4 years :rotflmao: :rotflmao:

and who in the frick do you think built western kentucky? Willie T. He took over a winning program, nothing like what Napier took over at UL. :rotflmao: :rotflmao:

yall mother frickers need to stay far away from hiring anyone, much less ceo of a 100+ million dollar business.

Thanks for the post! Good work and definitely an interesting candidate. I would guess that he would need to be a bit more successful. Look at PJ Fleck at Minnesota which also isn’t an ideal football location. I would put Fleck over him honestly.
