And it wasn't just Luck that got them there. Harbaugh made that team tough and dominant on the line of scrimmage,

WHO GIVES A shite ABOUT MSU?!?!
Until JH surpasses NS, NS stands tall based upon his body of work. Results only.
Hey, maybe he will and if he does, one can then argue him being better.
Saban has an established legacy ........Harbaugh is yet to be seen.

Saban has had his shot at a premier college program. Harbaugh has been at Stanford.
Saban flopped in the NFL, Harbaugh has kicked arse.
No shite Saban is better than Harbaugh at this point in time. You can't say JH isn't impressive and can't reach that level though.
Saban has 13 years on Harbaugh in age and what, 10 years head coaching? Your argument is retarded. What JH did at Stanford is at LEAST as impressive as what Saban did at MSU and arguably as impressive as Saban at LSU. LSU had a SERIOUS talent advantage over Stanford. The 2001-05 SEC wasn't leaps and bounds better than the 2007-10 PAC.
Saban has killed at Bama, a traditional powerhouse. JH hasn't had that chance yet.
ETA: You're basically saying "Saban has kicked arse at Alabama and Harbaugh hasn't." That's a stupid fricking argument unless you say "Harbaugh has kicked arse in the NFfrickingL and Saban didn't." You're throwing out what Saban did prior to Alabama yet going off of JH at fricking Stanford. Come the frick on.

Harbaugh went 12-1 at Stanford, freaking Stanford. Saban has only ever had one season better than that.
This is gold. Saban has only had 1 season better than a PAC-12 runner-up?

Imo, if he does go to Michigan, he's going to be the next great coach. By saying that, I mean he will win numerous national championships. So yeah, by the end of his career, I think he will match Saban's accomplishments.

I agree, I would love for LSU to hire him, when Les leaves. The timing could be perfect in three or so years, because if he doesn't win a Super Bowl by then, Philly may fire him.

A coach that goes 12-1 and wins the title is the same as if he went 12-1 but didnt play in the title game. Unless we assume coaches can control the other teams

This is the first time I've heard someone say that national titles are irrelevant when comparing coaches

ETA: Also, Tubbervilles undefeated season at Auburn in 2004 is a worse coaching performance than Miles 2 loss season in 2007. Explain please

when you have 4 of them and are playing for a 5th this year? That's no accident man

I can't begin to imagine the recruiting classes Harbaugh would have at UM. He'd steal a lot of blue chips from the south.

Yeahhhhhh no.
The SEC still owns facilities, weather, pussy and success.
He may get a few but he won't "steal a lot of blue chips" anymore than Urban does.

My argument is retarded when it is based on reality. Your argument is based upon mainly what ifs and a small sample size of reality.
4 NCs with a 5 very possible versus 0.......when can get into the academics of what he did in 4 seasons at Stanford but the fact is Saban pulled a NC in the SEC (at LSU) and JH did not.
I think JH is a fantastic coach and will resurrect UM; however, the spinning you and 87 have done has made you both dizzy.
Potential gets coaches fired.....until proven otherwise, Saban is superior. That's a mighty steep hill to reach the top. A hill only one man will have reached in a given amount of time.

ETA: In 2001 if I said Saban was better then Spurrier you would have called me a retard.

You Think...but we know about Saban.
You are right about Spurrier as the law of averages would've been against you.
I can cite example after example of coaches who had bright futures at one point and failed spectacularly.
The flaw is you are giving your prognostication a 100% chance of success. All based on a single 12-1 season at Stanford. I do understand his achievement there but I also think you sell Stanford a bit short and oversell the strength of the PAC 12.
