I can tell you that it is a FACT that Les is interested in the CU job and his people have been communicating/negotiating with the CU people. That is a fact. Say it's stupid all you want, but it is happening.

Now, that said, the CU people are about ready to pull the plug on talks because the numbers are WAY too far apart right now and CU can't get to where Les needs it to go. There's only so much money for the coaching pool and doing what Les needs will cripple his ability to hire an attractive staff and he knows it.

And, Mrs. Miles is the driving force behind this...

no fricking way.

I believe you. Watching this long enough, you can connect the dots:

After the Tennessee game, Miles is in trouble at LSU. Buyout money put together.

Colorado has an opening - people there like him. McCartney has major pull.

Colorado going to the Pac-10 and they need to make a splash, especially with recruiting. Miles is one of the best recruiters in America.

Major smoke from Colorado in the local paper there. That doesn't just happen for no reason. People are hearing things.

Gruden talk going around re: LSU position about the same time.

Suddenly, Gruden gets mentioned as a candidate for Miami, but for only $3 million a year. He'll want more than that. This shows that he is a candidate for college coaching and people know it. I would not be surprised if it is because of interest in the LSU job.

Backing up to Miles, suddenly, he beats Alabama. Major shock. Instead of trying to escape Baton Rouge, Miles has much more leverage. A BCS bowl is a possibility, maybe even a shot at the National Championship.

Miles, instead of trying to escape, wants major money and wants to be courted. Colorado says its too much and starts backing away. Miles handles a job search the way he handles time management at the end of a game. He screwed up leaving Oklahoma St., screwed up the Michigan search, and likely overplayed his hand with Colorado.

Now, he loses to Arkansas, but has 10 wins and is about to bring in a major recruiting class. Where does he stand?

Everything is up in the air. He doesn't really need to jump ship to Colorado anymore, but he does need to reset the offense and get rid of Crowton.

So, Miles pulls a rabbit out of his hat and thinks, "I need to call Mike Leach and see if he can reinvigorate this offense, because unless something happens, I'm screwed come next year."

I think that Miles stays at LSU if he can get a top-flight offensive coordinator. If he can't he might still jump ship, but if Colorado isn't willing to pay $3 million, Miles will stay.

That is what I think is going on behind the scenes.
