LSU fans are satisfied with Miles,
That's not exactly true

thus dispelling the persistent notion that LSU fans ask too much of their coach and eat them alive.
I don't know that's the case, but perhaps being un-levelheaded is true.
quote:
don't think that Alabama fans would be happy with Saban two years from now if he goes 9-4 and 10-3 and doesn't win the SEC again.
Of course they would, because they embraced him when he got there. That didn't happened with alot of LSU fans when Miles got here. And it has nothing to do with results.

am saying that we are more objective that most give us credit for because he isn't winning a championship every year and we still understand that he's doing a good job considering the competition he's facing and other factors.
Just because we haven't fired him doesn't mean LSU fans are now calm and cool. Think about how the guy has been criticized over the past 6 years. People that don't like him demand he go undefeated to justify his employment here. Saban wouldn't have to deal with that here or at Bama because people like him personally and as a coach.

If LSU doesnt win the west next year it will be time for critism.
I realize your post was centered around trying to say the SEC has been brutal and winning the SEC or even the SECW is a tough act.
So... while I agree there will be critics if LSU does not win the SECW.... it's not realistic to EXPECT it.
My case in point... Alabama this year.... most if not all the national media was sucking their crank before, during and AFTER they lost 3 games in the SEC and still wanted to crown them SECW, SEC, and National Champs.... well it didn't happen and after they lost game #2 (to LSU) they had ZERO chances of making it into the National Championship game... realistically speaking.

He's also won 11 games 4 times in those 6 years. He can't control what the other teams do. It's not realistic to expect and undefeated every year but to win the West that's almost what it's come to.
Plus he hasn't had a QB for the past 3 years. Hopefully he will now.

This is why he will leave - fans like you who can't appreciate the toughest road in college sports - lsu's schedule

Our goal should be an SEC Championship every year at the least and at the most a national championship. Our goal should also be to be a power every year and not merely just decent. Our coaches are well paid and they should be among the elite, not among the buffoons.

For me it's more about the timing and the recruiting class
I'm fine with Les to UM if thats what he wants but I wish it was not in January and not with this class coming
My concern as well

How strong was the SEC when Miles was at LSU vs earlier?
LSU every year opponents:
Saban >>> Shula
Petrino >>> Nutt
Nutt >>> Ogeron/Cutcliffe
Mullen >>> Croom/Sherill
Chizik < Tuberville (but playing for NC which Tuberville never did)
Meyer >>> Spurrier

1999 - Alabama
2000 - Florida
2001 - LSU
2002 - Georgia
2003 - LSU - won NC
2004 - Auburn
****** Miles arrives at LSU ******
2005 - Georgia
2006 - Florida - won NC
2007 - LSU - won NC
2008 - Florida - won NC
2009 - Alabama - won NC
2010 - Auburn - playing for NC

2 in seven years would be good, and that would 3 trips to ATL..
that's solid! the OP is nuts

Those are the champs during the BCS era. No team has more than 2 in any six year period.
and in those BCS years LSU and Florida are tied with 3 a piece for the most conference championships.

Just wondering what other top programs would be hoping their coach stayed who had one conference title in SIX years?
Alabama?
Florida?
Texas?
USC?
Michigan?
Ohio St?
Let's See...
Alabama...Nick Saban has only won 1 conference title in the last 7 seasons
Florida...Muschamp has never won a game, much less a conference title
Texas...Mack Brown has won 2 conference titles in 13 seasons
USC...Lane Kiffin has never won a conference title
Michigan...doesn't even have a coach

I think that we see Les' weaknesses but understand that it would be hard to find someone to match his success here.
Then why constantly point out his eccentricties. Hell, I am proud of the fact that we have a guy who is a little different among a group of cookie cutter coaching personalities. He is a good man of character - greater than that of those that critize him. You guys act as if we are mired in Charlie Mac mediocrity. Look out that window my friend, it might get ugly if Les leaves and we make a dumb mistake along the lines of Hallman, Archer, DiNardo et al. The names being kicked around as a successor aren't exactly iron clad formulas for future success. The negatigers need to get their collective head out of their @ss.

Saban won two, but miles played for two and won one.

I for one like CLM...he seems to be a high character guy that relates to young men. I would like CLM to stay with some self-reflection. Recognize he is a manager not an offensive or defensive guru as other head coaches are. As a result surround yourself with gurus who can do the grunt work for you...Crowton isn't that guy....so find your offensive guru and please stay

You are so right. LSU needs to fire someone that wins over 70% of the games. Hey maybe hire some retread professional coach that wins about 50%. Right?
Quit being such a whiney beotch.

You proved that you're an idiot in 1 post.
Impressive.
1 SEC title ( and 1 NC ) in 6 years is mediocre? I'll take that any day, any time.
Trust me: I've wanted to stab Miles about a hundred times over the past few years, but please.... for all his faults, LSU IS a top tier program and will continue to be for the foreseeable future.
Be careful what you wish for.
