Any truth to the rumor floating around the husker boards that Pelini is going to announce Larry Porter as his RB/special teams coach after the MNC game?

Why would he leave LSU, where he is the assistant head coach, to go to Nebraska to be the running backs coach??

I really doubt it. Porter and Miles are very tight. He is paid very well here.

IMO, he would only leave for an OC position.

can't see him leaving les, they are tight. plus he makes very good cash here...nebraska would have to cough up the cash to get him.

my sources say no

as many of the posters above mentioned, Pelini is an outsider to the Miles crew. Porter worked alongside him and others on our staff at Oklahoma State.

Pelini came in with Nebraska ties and left when the job opened. Doubtful he would take anyone with him to a program that is his to rebuild.

Pelini said the other day in a PC that he would not pursue any of the LSU coaching staff out of respect for Miles. That would be the direct opposite of leaving them alone...he took two GAs, but he won't take any coaches.

Agreed. And if Porter wants to go, then let him go. I would then hire Orgeron in the same position. RB coach is one of the easiest positions to coach anyway.

Plus, Orgeron is a better recruiter than Porter.

Go back a couple of years ago. Orgeron won it then.

Orgeron was recruiting guys to go to OM. That's a hard task. He just couldn't coach them up. He can nationally recruit as well.

OM has talent. They now get a coach who can coach them up, but Nutt isn't as good of a recruiter as Orgeron.

Orgeron at LSU would lock down all the talent in the state of Louisiana. Miles may very well do that now. I just feel, that these kids wouldn't be waffling as much. BAMA v. LSU. There is alot of that now.

Saban and Orgeron are along the same minds of recruiting. They are relentless. I know Porter is good also, but i just think Orgeron is better. I don't think Porter could pull in the talent at OM that Orgeron did.

Contrary to popular belief, Orgeron didn't get OM or USC on probation. The guy is good at what he does. He's just not a head coach and that's not what i'm wanting from him. JUST RECRUIT.

Just imagine what LSU would be able to do with both Porter and Orgeron on the staff.

I'm not a huge Coach O as a coach, but he can recruit with the absolute best of 'em.

maybe O can tell Joe M. he was wrong about telling him to go to USC and not LSU.
