It seems as though the probability of Kragthorpe being hired is high considering his name has not been mentioned for any other positions. May just be a coincidence but seems likely.
This was quite like the situation when Fulmer was fired and Chavis was jobless.

Wasn't Chavis considering Clemson. And how many other high profile DC jobs were available at the time?
Kragthorpe may not be receiving much consideration because of the disaster that he oversaw at Louisville.

Which should be a red flag for LSU.
Sorry, he doesn't have the credentials to coach here...he hasn't proved enough. If LSU is paying Crowton 500k...I'm sure they can find a more suitable OC than Kragthorpe...someone much more established with more success...
The only thing that is making him attractive, IMO, is he can coach QBs too...

This post has merit. I was thinking the same thing. He was in Tulsa when Les was in Stillwater - must have crossed paths. He was a fine coach at Tulsa and inherited a gangsta shite hole in Louisville. He might be the new OC / QB coach.

Some people aren't meant to be head coaches, but excell at being coordinators. And every head coaching job is different. Look at Cutcliff. Great OC, but bad HC at Ole Miss. Just good enough of a HC for Duke. Weis is a good OC, but not a great HC. Ralph Friedgen(sp?) was a good OC, but a so-so coach. Dave Wienstant(sp?) is the epitome of good coordinator, bad head coach.

cutcliffe had one bad year at ole miss and they really still havent recovered from firing him. weis was a back-up plan like shula. wannstedt has pitt on the verge of 10 wins for back to back seasons, maybe he wasnt cut out as an nfl coach but he is doing good in college. crowton comes to mind as the classic example of someone who is a coordinator but not HC

Actually, Cut had 1 good year at Ole Miss and they've reverted back to their rightful place as "once a runt, always a runt."

Pretty bad comparison given Williams history of success at DC before joining the Saints. He led an all-time great defense at Tennessee that got them to a Super Bowl. He was also successful in Washington and Jacksonville.
Kragthorpe's only OC experience at a major program was at Texas A&M for three years during their decline (they were shut out twice in his second season).

wit tubby, ole miss was 6-5, 5-6, 8-4, 6-5. enter cutcliffe 8-4, 7-5, 7-4, 7-6, 10-3 and one bad season. he had more consistent success than tuberville and then one bad season they canned him then they went to total shite with orgeron, and nutt is not much of an upgrade, once ogerons talent is gone they will be back to 6-7 win years

First off, he was a great coach pretty much everywhere he went before he landed in Buffalo. He was highly regarded. Second off, even in his previous jobs, its the NFL. So if you succeed there, you know you're good. Third off, Kragthorpe does not have a good history. So he did good at Tulsa, a small program and some can argue they were actually better when he left. Since Tulsa, hes done jack shite. Under Petrino it was PETRINO'S offense. Louisville then declines when he becomes coach. In his first year, they were bad and still had a lot of draft picks.
The only thing good in his history is Tulsa...Williams was a well established DC IN THE NFL mind you. Look at what Greg did after Buffalo too. Terrible comparisons...
