Charles,
How does LSU look technique-wise on the O line? Please, Explain it to me.
I've seen various posters mention LSU doesn't have a talent problem, but a coaching problem.
Care to lend some of your knowledge to the board?

He isn't a coach. People who play football don't become great coaches automatically.
Saying Mawae played football is like saying Hendrix played the guitar or Jordan played basketball. He's an NFL hall of fame center, the toughest and smartest position on the field right after QB. He was basically begging for a job from LSU. He's with the Bears right now and if he's not the LSU o-line coach next year then someone in that building is a fricking moron.

Exactly
It's all about recruiting players. And Mawae has the resume: HOF, players union President.
He could recruit from anywhere in the US
Miles was an idiot for not hiring him. Prob cause he knows 10x more than LM as an off line coach

He told me after they hired grimes that he applied and wanted the job, but les chose JG.
Never know what future holds is where he left it.

Impressive resume to be sure.

Why don't we hire a HC and let him decide? Let's let Herman pick his staff.

If he didn't have to recruit...probably.
But, a guy like Mawae isn't going to put in the hours necessary from a recruiting standpoint.

He flat out said he knows exactly what it takes to recruit kids these days. He was all but begging on his hands a knees for Les to hire him. Instead he hired clown show Grimes that just about every Auburn fan here warned us about.

I think the fear is that as a multi-millionaire already, he may not be willing to spend every waking second he's not coaching recruiting. He may think he wants the job, but when he's driving all night on a Tuesday in January in buttfrick West Texas to go kiss the arse of some snot-nosed 17-year-old, he may realize who he is and ask himself what the frick he is doing.
