Total and complete bullshite! For the most part, LSU fans respect the man as a coach and what he did at LSU. On the other hand, they hate his midget arse for how he left them and the fact that until this event, he has proven to not be a man of his word. Its the classic "Woman Scorned" theory...

And the Austin airport prank is comedy gold

Yeah, no one BELIEVED that Saban was in the airport, everyone just thought it was funny. #7 is a guy who was just plain right. He saw the potential for comedy, and delivered.

I will say that I always thought it was 50-50 either way, so I don't think every rumor was necessarily wrong, just not the complete certainty of it. I think its clear by his actions Saban seriously considered going to Texas and then decided not to. If he was never interested, he signs the extension a week ago and they kill the rumor in its infancy, like A&M did with Sumlin and USC.

I think the people beating their chests saying how there was never any chance Saban left are just as wrong as the people who said he was definitely leaving. He wasn't definitely doing anything until yesterday, when he finally decided what to do. They just guessed the coin flip correctly. Now they are trying to say there was no possible way it could have ever been heads.

I'll bet you'll care when Les Miles uses Saban's $7mil as the point of comparison when he negotiates his next raise

He'll have to win a championship for that to happen, and nobody will care if that's the case.

He got his last deal with LSU last year and it's a good one, otherwise.

Yeah, and when the details come out that no buyout exists, this shite starts all over again, just with a little less attention.

If Sumlin is worth $5m a year, Les deserves more

He didn't win a championship between the last two raises, did he?

Saban has set the bar for all top tier coaches. Get ready to pay...or say goodbye.

Miles lacks leverage once this class signs, so it'll have to happen between now and signing day, and I'm close to positive that using Arkansas ( ) last year will negate that possibility this year.

So, outside of an SECC, or playoff appearance, I'm confident that LSU is content with Miles' current contract from an administration standpoint.

I don't see the Miles' side making a play anytime soon.

LSU has a history of not trying to keep up with the Joneses when it comes to that.

I think the deal with a significant raise happened on the eve of the '07 SECCG.

I thought the one last year was more of a restructuring and extension, more than a significant bump. And even if it did, he doesn't have that kind of leverage so soon.

He's worth the class he's bringing in this year, IMO.

And who was the last football coach that LSU refused to give a raise to? I mean, seriously...when did you ever have a football coach that left because he was courted by another, better paying university? Or that wanted a raise and left because he didn't get it?

EDIT...Miles is tied for the 4th highest paid coach in the country. As all those top ten salaried coaches get raises to keep up with the bar Saban has set, Miles will get his also.

Well, off the top of my head, Arnsparger, and then Saban.

Arnsparger left LSU to become the athletic director at Florida, and Saban left to go to the NFL.

Try again.

Better yet, don't waste your time. You've never had one.

Everyone knows he doesn't have a buyout. He hasn't had a buyout at any point that he's been at Alabama.
