Here is an email I sent the Dandy one when Saban left. Thought it was funny to read it.

Don,

Why is LSU settling for a second tier coach. I thought that this job was one of the best in the country. We could have had Tuberville, but they dropped the ball on that. I don't particularly care for the guy, but he wins football games. Why isn't Skip Bertman going after Spurrier or Fulmer or even Mark Richt, although I am not as high on him as I was last year? Petrino is successful at Louisville, but so was Tommy Bowden and he has done nothing since his stint at Tulane. I understand Butch Davis didn't want to take the job, but Houston Nutt turned down LSU! LSU is better than Arkansas so I just don't know what happened there. I understand that many bowl games are still being played and that other coaches may be approached after the games, but I think we should be go after the top coaches, like Stoops, Carroll, etc. I understand that them switching schools is highly unlikely, but you should at least inquire. My beef so far is that we could have had Tuberville, but did not offer him the job when clearly he was willing to listen. I understand that he left Ole Miss high and dry, but that is the nature of college football. I am very disappointed and hope that Skip Bertman pulls a rabbit out of a hat. I understand as well that Saban wasn't thought of highly either, but our program wasn't at the level it is now. If they have the right coach, they should contend for a national championship next season as they will be the favorite in the SEC with Auburn and Georgia having to reload and Tennessee still being relatively young. I hope I am wrong, but this hasn't gone well so far.
