People tend to forget how "certain" it was that Pete Carroll would fail at USC back in 2001.

Will Gruden be cheating on that level?

How in the world will a coach, who won a Super Bowl, be able to beat Derek Mason, Will Muschamp, Barry Odom, and Mark Stoops???!

Someone that hasn't been a coach, much less a college coach, in years? Someone that was .500 in his professional career that hasn't recruited in years?

I'm sorry, but name alone isn't going to get Tennessee anywhere.

Gruden never had a Bledsoe or Wilson. He also had to deal with a lack of first round and second round draft picks due to the trade.

On this argument I hear a lot, it is not pro to college, but go back and look at the case of Dick Vermeil.

Good call. He was out of coaching for 15 years, but won a Super Bowl within 3 years of his return. He was also an announcer during his time away.

I understood the attraction to Gruden, 7-8 years ago. It's comical now.

How long has it been since he last coached? 10 years! How many teams, college and NFL have made a run at him over that span? I find it hard to believe that all of a sudden he has that passion to coach again and do the grind of Recruiting...which he has never done. It's a pipe dream!

NEVER coached in College
NEVER recruited

The longer he's out of coaching, the greater of a coach he's becoming.

Butch Jones was a couple of plays away from going 10-2/11-1 in 2015 and should've gone 10-2/11-1 last season. Gruden is not a worse coach than Jones.

And what would his record be at lsu "if" he were hired?

It baffles me how people on here cant comprehend the concept of what good coordinators can do for a CEO HC.

Ive never wanted gruden other than wanting to see him ruffle sabans feathers as he gives him his chuckie face from across the field. Just stare at him with occasional "drop the bomb" comments in the mic to his coordinators. Ha!!

Dick Vermeil coached when football was still pro style.

It’s a lot different now

Muschamp is undefeated against the Vols. I wouldn't be talking about him as though he is bad
