Jerod Mayo to interview for Eagles HC job

Mayo actually has less experience as a coach than Brady does

2 to be fair

He got some early run calling plays his first year coaching to, before Steve Belicheck took over that role full time

Seems pretty clear the Eagles are more interested in a “culture” guy to fix that locker room than they are X’s and O’s.

They are also interviewing 2 other minority candidates currently so that doesn’t make any sense

Rooney Rule token. It's sad but true. That rule was meant to at least get some minority coaches a look. Teams already have a guy in mind usually, but are forced to run a few up and coming minority coaches through the circus for a minute to appease the league. I think it has actually worked a few times, think Vance Joseph. It does help to eventually build the coaches resume as other teams at least take notice of the token interviews as potential coordinator hires etc.

Again already interviewed one minority coach and have another interview set with Bowles so that doesn’t make sense

While he wasn't an O or D coordinator, he was VERY highly regarded coach and had more than a decade experience coaching in the NFL.

Culture obviously is important for any hire, but hiring someone just for culture is silly. Harbaugh was also hired because he's a solid football mind respected by guys like Belichick (who gave him a recommendation in Baltimore).

But the point was he was hired because of the culture they thought he could bring, not his X’s O’s

I understand Mayo is inexperienced, that is separate from the fact that there are examples of success from teams choosing culture over coordinator success

And guess who Jerod Mayo works for?

Apples to oranges when it comes to experience. That’s my point. Hiring a green coach with no coordinator experience just for culture is silly.

Harbaugh was definitely not green. Very far from it.

ETA:

This is a silly discussion too , I'll stop now
