It’s pretty well known he didn’t enjoy recruiting. You don’t bring someone like that in as a first time HC.

This is a pre NIL , pre GM - style program perception. You have OTHER guys who recruit, manage a roster, figure out NIL and you let the coach do what he does - COACH. The Saban days are for the most part over. Everything we need program wise is already in place except for a bad arse football strategist/coach.Go get an X and O wizard with an attitude and a swagger and let Austin Thomas and Frank worry about HS kids.

IMHO.

Please please please hire Joe Brady. That would be Curley Hallman levels of entertaining.

A 36 year old with no head coaching experience and doesn’t want to recruit. :/

It seems a lot of recruiting these days is done with stacks of cash.

The biggest issue I have with Brady is the fear he becomes akin to Aranda at Baylor.

A great coordinator who's skill set is geared towards watching film in a dark room all week and has his head down in a play sheet on gameday. And a guy totally out of his element running a team of 100 players and making two dozen macro type decisions everyday that have nothing to do with scheming a route tree or writing a play script for that weekends opponent, which is where he has proven his worth as a coach.

People forget just how fast Brady got out of town once the season ended. He was looking for a pro position for who knows how long but once the season ended, he was out of the football building.

I just don’t think you bring in someone who has zero head coaching experience.

Great idea. This mentality would have eliminated 8 of the 15 coaches to win a NC since 2000. I included Jim Tressel b/c the non coordinator mentality here would never endorse a coach from Youngstown St. either.

I totally agree which is why:

Bob Stoops
Jimbo Fisher
Dabo Sweeny
Kirby Smart
Ryan Day
Marcus Freeman
Lincoln Riley
Dan Lanning

Were terrible hires for the lesser tier programs that hired them from a coordinator role.

We need to go get the coach that had that highest winning percentage of all active college football coaches and has a history of winning at multiple programs. No way a guy like that would fail at LSU.
