Now it seems like Woodward would be hiring a stale retread

We've seen what Jimbo is in a top job with a lot of resources available to him. I would rather someone on the come up vs Jimbo.

He really wasn't, though, is the sad part

But six years later, he's really not

I understand him not being exciting now but he was 100% exciting in 16. As was Herman.

I remember dancing up and down in my living room when the ESPN ticker announced Herman to LSU during the Thanksgiving games. I was so scared they were going to give it to 0 after the UF loss

Woodward does not hire up and comers. The baseball hire was the closest thing and even he has been to a championship and Omaha. I’ve been saying a lot of people will have to turn down a lot of money before an up and comer is hired.

Exactly. Half a decade late on Jimbo.

How is Jimbo stale?
He has A&M in their best state in like 30 years and just won an orange bowl.

This. Being stuck with Les and his shitty offense for years was absolute torture. The fact that he was this quirky “family man” who would eat grass on the sidelines had the full support of the mouth breathing normies. 2015 was the final straw, and somehow the fricker still kept his job. When he FINALLY got fired the day after the Auburn game I was celebrating like we won a Natty. Finally we had gotten rid of the stubborn stuck in his ways doofus. Too bad a few weeks later we got O.

LSU and Auburn were down last year, and they still couldn’t capitalize and get to Atlanta, even with a fairly navigable schedule.

We don’t want Jimbo.

Prepare for 7-8 years of meh until the buyout gets to a manageable $20m and we inevitably fire him

I'm talking about guys like Franklin, Kiffin and so on. Guys that have had some success but haven't had an opportunity to coach at a school like LSU with it's resources, commitment to winning and recruiting advantages. I realize Kiffin was at Tennessee and USC, but I think he's a completely different coach after being at Bama and been at lesser schools like FAU and Ole Miss.

We don’t know if he went after Franklin. He’s not exactly selling himself very well when having to put up all this money.

Kiffin I’m sure was considered, but his situation has been covered.

Regardless of our opinion of these two, it’s easy to understand why there could be concerns by some for both.

And it’s also easy to sell why lsu is a better job talent wise than what you can get at aTm. So maybe they’re considering that as well.

They legit only lost to Alabama the national champions.

LOL. It was the winningest decade in program history. LSU was never that good over a 10 year stretch. His 2007 team broke the LSU record for scoring, set by his 2006 team.

This is stupid

Tucker was 2-5 last year
Kiffin was 5-5
Franklin was 4-5
Rhule was 5-11
Freeze was 6-2
Fickell had the same record as Jimbo, and finished 4 spots below him
M. Stoops was 5-6

Every coach you guys want, is worse than Fisher in actual results. And you are trying to convince people that they will turn it around at LSU, but NC winning Jimbo doesn't know how.

-complicated/clunky prostyle offense
-10 year guarantee, hands tied
-not worth Top2 money for Top15 results
-small concerns about culture and off-field problems
-when we inevitably do fire him, is it a Florida St repeat of their dumpster fire?
-retirement payday, what motivation would he have to be the hardest-working coach in CFB?
-has already made it to the mountain top, I want someone who hasn’t and is driven everyday to get there
-"It’s the same offense that I’ve ran since 1993 or 1994," Fisher said in 2017. Yes, that’s a direct quote
-we’d be indirectly “saving A&M” from themselves…we WANT Jimbo there and them to be locked into a 10-year guarantee, not giving them an opportunity to hire a better coach to win big with Fisher’s recruits
-he’s not going to relinquish control of the offense because he has schools offering $10m and 10 years, he thinks his offense works

All that said, I’ll be very disappointed at first and then get on board and root for LSU and Jimbo just as I eventually did for O. Fisher does recruit very well and makes good hires and knows how to run a program, which covers for his offense. But I feel very confident in saying we won’t win a national title under Jimbo unless he finally sees the light and hires a modern/competent OC.
