Jack Crowe out at Jacksonville State

Jacksonville State Head football coach Jack Crowe was released from the remaining two years of his contract on Friday, according to Athletics Director Warren Koegel.
"I want to thank Coach Crowe for his years of service and recognize the work he and all of his assistants have done in support of our student-athletes," Koegel said. "It is never easy to make a coaching change, but during this time of transition, the expectations of our department remain the same.

Would they go after that young guy at West Alabama? He seems to be an up-and-comer.

Anyone know the story behind this? 87-57 is a respectable record and they won their conference last year. JSU looked like a decent team to me early this season. Is there just university politics at play here?

If JLS can come back for a second helping...I see no reason why Jack Crowe shouldn't be afforded the same opportunity.

He was there 13 years and the team continued to under perform. The school just renovated the stadium and added a gigantic press box and 8,000 more seats. They have a 24K seat stadium and probably average 8K fans a game. The school was stupid to expand the stadium.

JSU tied for the conference championship last year. JSU had a 24 point lead with 7 minutes to go in the game and gave up 4 touchdowns.
I do know one of the BOTs at the school. I think a large part of letting Crowe go is JSU not ever winning a playoff game in FCS. They made the playoffs a few times, but Crowe can't take them to the next level.
