In the Olympics they throw out the high and low scores. Just saying.
So Miles' winning percentage is 85% ? Cool! Plus, since you toss the bad score, Mallory and Peveto get another shot? Whatever.

Jeebus!!
Just responding to his stats.

That's one of the things that worries me. A coach with ambition to be a HC will work hard to show off what he has to be a big name. A coach who's looking to stick around will only do good enough not to get fired.
Totally agree, signed Monte Kiffin and Bud Foster

It's kinda like hitting on that hot chick at the bar, but ending up taking her ugly friend home who's not great but not that bad in bed and she keeps calling you.
fwiw...if you hit on the hot chick she is going to play it cold in order to impress the ugly friend. if you hit on the ugly one first, the hot one will get pissed and take you home just to show the ugly one who's boss.

Just saying an undefeated season ten years ago alone doesn't prove Chavis is a great DC now.

top five defense, this year. not 10 years ago, and proves he still can get it done.

That's not what the Olympic reference (inapt though it surely was) was saying. It was saying that in evaluating talent, you ignore the best and worst performances as being aberrational, and weigh what's left. Perhaps that isn't what you meant by using the reference, in which case you simply used a bad analogy.

I'll put this way Miles gambled before(pev-mal) and lost. If this hand(chavis) proves to be bad, you will hear people coming out of the woodworks calling for Miles' head. LSU is not a mediocre school!

Yes, that is how it was used. My response was also in reference to the 2nd post from some UT guy listing his record from 95-98. Which is why my post is referencing ten years ago.
The Olympic reference was too this-
quote:
"Chavis is meh. You know we won't be terrible, you know we won't be great either. Fits with Miles' scheme of losing at least 2 games every year no matter how talented you are."
Boy that maximus, if he only thought before he typed.
chavis did coach a defense that didn't have a L and won a n.c.. Even saban can't claim that one.

If you don't like debate and discussion you really should stay away from message boards.

Isn't his retort simply his contribution to 'debate and discussion'?

I just read the Vol boards
They are fairly confident they get O, supposedly they offered 650K
Heck they were only paying Chavis 375k after 16 years of service!
Monte Kiffen is getting something like 1.1 Million, Lane is getting like 2 something, so they may have more room for assts, since we pay LES 3.75..
Another vol thread said they heard from 2 sources (as of today) that O was NOT going to Tennessee..
So who knows

You have to figure Ed O goes one direction or another by the end of the week.

Rumors are that some of our money people are uncomfortable w/ O.
