The fact remains that he wins a lot of games.

What could have Petrino done with the talent had LSU had hired him? What if Saban had stayed there longer than going to the NFL? LSU has a lot of built in advantages and really any coach is pretty much plug and play. Hell I bet Dooley could have them in a BCS bowl before long.

Arkansas does not have those advantages so we need coaches that can get 3 and 4 stars and develop them into 5 stars. We do not get enough talent to just plug in 5 star guy here he does not work out then just plug in another 5 star. We do not work like that. The few seasons we beat LSU with Petrino was due to the fact he created mismatches, Bobby could see things that LSU did and use them to our advantage. This is the only reason we went to the Sugar bowl with a team that was not as talented as LSU that year.

The handling of the Lee/Jefferson situation last year ended my support for him. That doesn't mean he's not a good coach; I just don't agree how he makes major decisions (see the Doug Mallory and Bradley Dale Peveto co-coordinator decision for further proof).

Agree.

Promoting position coaches to coordinator doesn't make sense. With the talent and success LSU has had, they should be always go out and hire top coordinators.

adono, i think the "media firestorm" is a bit exaggerated. The filth and the fury from the media will last about a week then the discourse will revert right back to football. AU hiring Petrino won't render too much of a firestorm.

I agree with this. Arky fired him for putting the girl on the payroll; otherwise there would have been somewhat of a shite storm, but he would have survived. If AU wants to let the self-righteous hypocrits keep them from hiring the guy with highest ceiling and floor, it's alright with me.

ark has no excuses. they've had more time than the other schools and def have the most money. pony up what it takes to get a big name coach and it will more than pay for itself in the long run.

If our hiring goes to shite...I'm blaming Obama!

Higher taxes on the rich scaring coaches away from all our money.

Yea, i'm trying to pout myself in the shoes of an AU fan and doing so i'd have to go with Petrino but only if he hires a top shelf DC. I think Petrino is the coach that'll get AU back to respectability the fastest. But if the "AU Creed Crowd" wants to snub Petrino, i'm cool with that......

Les is a great coach just not a great "in game" coach.
