re: It Feels like Arkansas is actually in the best position for a coach now

IMO Arkansas needs someone that has shown they can either A) win with lesser talent (like Petrino or Gundy) or B) transcend the location and pull big time recruits from outside Arkansas while also locking up the talent at home, which I think Lane could do. I agree with the other poster that I think Arkansas is a great job for the right coach and won’t ever fall behind as far as facilities or support for the program goes
Add Leach to that list, as well. I think he would be a good fit there.

Would not surprise me at all if Arkansas and State end up having the best hires of the offseason. Not having immense pressure to hire a big name like Gruden or Chip Kelly or whoever allows a search with due diligence.
This statement reflects what is wrong with the SEC right now, and it is becoming evident on the field more and more every year. The easy TV money has resulted in everyone resorting to an arms race to catch Bama and just indiscriminatly throwing cash at problems. That has never worked consistently in any sport, on any level. It takes the right people spending money and hiring the right people the right way to make it work.

Leach would be great at Arkansas if they are looking to win 6 or 7 games every year.
He'd be entertaining though, but so was Bert.
Norvell is a coin flip at best.
Kiffin is an absolute disaster just waiting to happen.
I'd hire Norvell

Leach would be good for 7 or 8 consistently.
Norvell is better than a coin flip. He may be better than Fuente, and that is no joke and no disrespect to Fuente, either. I really hope Memphis can hang onto him for one more year. With his recruiting for another year, they will be set for whoever follows him.

Well we can’t all hire Home runs like Barry Odom

Maybe you'll hire a coach that can beat him???
Anyway, not sure why you are deflecting.
If that is your list then that is your list.
Norvell is probably the best shot of actually working out from that list. It's a coin flip, but 99% of hires require getting lucky anyway. There just aren't many sure fire winners available.
Maybe it works out, maybe it doesn't but that's preferable to the low ceiling/high floor Leach or the pre pubescent boy Kiffin.

They'd be giving up 300 yards rushing per game by the end of it.
And this is due to their air raid offense.. ???
You're losing me..

I’m not deflecting anything, you shitting on every candidate shows your agenda. Of course we won’t know the outcome of hires but Norvell or Kiffin, on paper, would qualify as solid.

Maybe since they got rid of Long things will happen for them.
Maybe. But we have activist boosters calling the shots behind the scenes so we'll have to see how it all shakes out.

Mike Norvell would be a great hire for Arky....and from what many are suggesting, its already a done deal and will be announced after his game this weekend.
Posted on 11/27/17 at 9:33 pm to Latarian
I didn't shite on Norvell. He's a reasonable hire. Success at a lower level and he deserves to move up. That would be a legitimate hire by Arkansas.
I said it's a gamble and it is.
Leach wouldn't do well with the defensive athletes in the SEC. just my opinion.
Kiffin will be a major disaster for whatever idiot AD gives him a job. You deserve it if you make that very obvious mistake.

He can recruit, has HC and OC experience in the SEC, and has completely turned around FAU. Sure he’s somewhat of a loose cannon but I think he’s matured
Posted on 11/27/17 at 9:39 pm to Latarian
LOL.
Really? Matured?
You're not on Twitter are you?
Hire him. I hope you do.

Norvell is the kind of coach that if he succeeds Arkansas can hold onto a long time

Yeah god forbid a coach show some personality instead of having a stick up his arse. Recruits and players must hate it.
Are you over the age of 50?

Hire him.
He displays the maturity level of a 12 yr old.
It will be an unmitigated disaster before it's over.

If he wins he can post dick pics on twitter for all I care. Bert was a nice guy, that worked out.

If that's who you want then I hope you get him.
Posted on 11/27/17 at 10:20 pm to Porcine Human
I would be ecstatic if you hired Lane
