I'm not sure Miles could reasonably return with all this smoke. I also don't buy that it's Jimbo.

I think there will be a change, but I think the Jimbo deal is done posters are going to be mistaken. He's paid well. Miles' buyout is high. You're going to have to pay the buyout and put Jimbo in Nick Saban/Jim Harbaugh salary range, and he's not worth that amount of money. He's won one NC. So have several other coaches, Miles included.

I can see Saban/Harbaugh money for Kelly. He has NFL experience, something both Harbaugh and Saban have. The pieces fit on KELLY as well. He's more than likely out.

Why does Harbaugh deserve Harbaugh money?

Chip hated dealing with Oregon boosters yet you think he'd be happy w/the ones at LSU that are forcing out their winningest coach ever?

Because he went to the Super Bowl. You can say what you want but Saban sold the NFL angle for years to recruits. He sold it to recruits at LSU. He claimed that they should want to play for a coach the NFL admires

All I've read about Chip is that he hates playing the college PR game.

It appears he's cooling on the NFL game too, though. So, assuming he's going to coach, my bet is its in college.

I hear you, but I think given the keys to this program we rise to another level. I think LSU is a completely different arsenal that Chip could do very interesting things with.

He did really well at Oregon, a school with virtually no recruiting base. He's had success in the NFL as well. Sam Bradford killed him, though. His lack of success as acting GM was his downfall when he signed Murray. Traded Foles. And didn't sign McCoy.

Good points. I would be worry about his recruiting though. He's rumored to not enjoy it.

There's only like 5-6 active division 1 head coaches with national titles.

Miles
Saban
Meyer
Stoops
Jimbo

The question is what do you pay him to lure him away from FSU. It's going to have to put him near the Saban/Harbaugh range.

Is he worth that given his resume relative to other coaches with one NC?

The ONLY reservation I'd have about Chip is this kind of thing. He has a prickly personality that works fine for NFL coaches or on the east, west coasts. Its different down here. SEC coaches are rock stars, they need to be able to play the smooze game a bit in the arms race that is the SEC (west especially). I'm sure he could use his accomplishments well in this regard, I'm just not sure HE would want to.

I honestly could see him going to a job like Miami and absolutely kill it. He'd have a reasonably easy time getting the talent level he needed and wouldn't be under the microscope he would be in SEC towns as there is simply more going on overall. He was rolling at Oregon with smaller players that were around the 3-4 star level with the occasional stud. I think having South Florida players to pull from would be insane for him.

I would be pretty damn excited if he was our guy though.
