Is there a job out there that Muschamp would leave UT for?

UGA, maybe. Seems content to let this play out and take over the best job out there.

I think Brown and Texas needs to let him know exactly when it is Brown is going to step down.

Please don't tell me that you think Texas is the best job out there...

Maybe I just had a long day.

uga and lsu are the two jobs those inside the athletic department think he'd consider.

The only job I worry about opening up is the Georgia job. If Brown steps down before that opens up, or if we can somehow get past that, I think he's at Texas for a long time....or until he fails.

Assuming Brown actually knows or will still want to when that time comes. I don't know if Brown will be more of a Bobby Knight or Bobby Bowden type of guy when it comes to retirement.

Well, Muschamp isn't getting any younger. If they don't give him a certain date, he needs to jet. Sure, Brown could drop dead tomorrow or not retire until 2016. They need to let Muschamp know in fairness to Muchamp. He already turned down jobs last year to stay at Texas. He's pretty loyal by staying at Texas when he could have been long gone.

He did say that Georgia would be his dream job. This was a few years ago, though. I assume he feels similarly now.

Last night a Houston (Channel 13) sportscaster talked about Muschamp being the #1 candidate for the Tennessee job. His opinion was that Muschamp will probably seriously consider the offer because 1. Brown could easily coach at Texas for another 10 years and 2. His current salary is around $1 million and Tennessee is said to be offering around $3 Million.

brown probably doesn't know. as long as he's enjoying his job (and making $5mil/yr) and the university is ok with him staying, he will stay. this "head coach in waiting" is a strange animal. i don't know what his "buyout" is, but he's making a $mil a year as a D coord. and can pick and choose what head coaching job he takes if any while waiting for brown to pull the trigger.ironically, the better the job muschamp does, the longer brown will coach. hell, his quality of life in Austin at one mil/yr may be better than a HC gig.

Well, if Brown doesn't know, then Muschamp just can't keep passing on these opportunities.

But, you make a good point, as long as Muschamp stays and is in control of the defense and they are winning and having fun, Brown may coach longer than expected. It's a conundrum, I guess.

Muschamp is in a good situation in life. He can make nice cash while being an assistant knowing he's got options.

ESPN radio station in Houston had guys talking about that very subject yesterday. They were saying that he probably would not bolt for Tennessee, but mentioned that for a higher level SEC team... most probably LSU if Les Miles leaves for Michigan next year. Also Alabama or Florida were possible. They said Texas would not give Muschamp a guarantee ala Jimbo at FSU, which means he would probably eventually end up at LSU.

Jimbo had a clause in his contract that if Bowden hadn't stepped down by 2010 or maybe 2011 then he'd be guaranteed 2.5 million or so. Not sure if Muschamp has the same type of clause in his contract.

He would be crazy to follow Urban at Florida. You don't want to follow the legend. Kiffin will not live up to Pete & fail. If we fail next year and Les is bumped, the ideal situation is to follow a failed coach.

Saban - Shula
Richt - several fails
Stoops - a herd of fails
Pete Carroll - an army of fails
Les - Saban
