He was the only offensive coordinator up for the Broyles award.

Now, that is this year (so could be a 1-year wonder as some have suggested).

And, full disclosure, I'm not crazy about Canada at this point, but this is an absolutely fair point. He is the only OC up for the Broyles this year.

So, if that doesn't support at least the argument he is one of the best, if not the best OC in CFB in 2016, I don't know what would.

His offense ranked first in redzone tds at Pittsburgh....

After the abomination that was our Redzone O against Florida... this is fantastic. We would have won by 21+ if we finished all those redzone drives.

He may be, but it's subjective. I'd consider it a damn good hire and LSU possibly having the best OC/DC combo in the country next year.

That's a good question. He was competeing with the big boys at little ole NC State. Here's an article that came out around the time he was let go:
quote:

North Carolina State offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach Matt Canada has been let go after three seasons, according to sources.

The surprising move by Wolfpack coach Dave Doeren comes on the heels of his team being third in the ACC in scoring this season (33.2 points per game) behind only North Carolina and Clemson. That ranks 38th in the FBS this season.

Under Canada, North Carolina State is also 32nd nationally in rushing yards per game this season (201.4). Last season, his offense averaged 6 yards per play and racked up 5,311 yards of total offense, second- and fourth-best respectively in school history.

The Wolfpack also had 2,659 rushing yards last year, the fourth highest total in school history. The past two seasons Canada has also helped rejuvenate the career of graduating starting quarterback Jacoby Brissett.

After two lackluster seasons at Florida and sitting out 2013 due to his transfer, Brissett has developed into a potential mid-round pick in April’s NFL draft. He threw for 5,268 yards with 43 touchdowns and just 11 interceptions in his two seasons with the Wolfpack.

Some would say it was the wrong move.

I see we've resorted to fabricating statistics now.

Your posts are just sad at this point. We get it. You hate Canada. Here's your cookie.

#1 in red zone TD percentage

#10 in red zone scoring offense. Bama was #28 and LSU was #85.

In 2015 NCST was #53, like you said. However, Bama was #82 and LSU was 58.

So maybe just maybe you should look at things in an overall picture instead of in a vacuum like you continue to do.

Why don't you tell us who the perfect available hire is since you obviously don't want Canada.

I don't know if he's the best, but I saw some good things in his one year at Wisconsin. It's my understanding that Fat Bert didn't really let him do what he wanted with the offence til the CCG, where we crushed UNL 70-31.

Watching that game reinforced the rumors that Bert had him on a leash through the season as there were lots of plays and formations not seen until that game. Also, as I recall we had injury issues that year along with no real quarterback, which limited Canada's options.

I do know I didn't like it when Andersen chose Andy Ludwig for OC versus retaining Canada.

I think he is probably the best hire LSU could make given the current coaching landscape. Meaning that out of the available OCs i think Canada would be the best option for lsu.
