Is LSU OC an appealing job?

Both Jimbo Fisher and Crowton made it clear that they could never really run their own offense under Miles and repeatedly butted heads over strategy. It looks like Miles just wants a yes man, so i wouldn't expect someone with great credentials.

It's not really, there's no way we rewrite the offense at this stage. So you'd have to know coming in they would be calling the offense as Les wants it called.

Well, I am self employed, but I answer to customers and to my wife. I still lead my family, but like most men, if you want harmony in your home, you will usually do what Momma wants done.
Everyone has a customer...and thus, to some extent that makes us "Yes men".
Does that mean we stay in a position that compromises our convictions and values? No! A yes man doesn't mean you are weak. It just means you don't rock the boat with your boss.
If Les Miles wants run off Tackle and you want to run a screen pass, guess what! You are going to run the off tackle play aren't you?

Not if you want things like great assistant pay, top talent with which to work, great facilities, a shot at a title, and a boss who'll find you another job before he fires you.

It's not about if a job is appealing or not. I think LSU is plenty appealing enough. The problem is coordinators are looking for the right fit for what they do and their career. Some OC candidates may just feel like it's not the right move for them now. Don't forget a new OC has to not only work with Les but his already in place offensive assistants.

I have to disagree. I think with Crowton, the playbook was too big...too many formations and too many plays/personnel.
IMO the players already know the plays, the playbook just needs to be more simplified and more potent.
This is why I think anyone would/will nut their pants for this job.

I would assume an OC at LSU would be like a DC at Bama. Most men who are very confident in their ability and have nothing to prove want to be in charge of that side of the ball which is why I am so surprised Smart has remained at Bama. I would think DC at LSU would be more appealing but LSu has everything a young and coming OC at a smaller school could possibly want.

Please name me one head coach of a top BCS school who doesn't have infuence over both sides of the ball. Do you think Baby Bear doesn't scream into the headset when the offense is on field, or do you believe he takes that time off during a game.

Crowton mentioned that the Maryland opportunity was one where he could be more wide open, but that the offense at LSU was "what we needed to run" given personnel.
