This is Les Miles.
Huh? It's MI that you're alluding to making this decision.

People aren't exactly beating the door down to go coach at Michigan. They are less desirable when compared to LSU in money, recruiting, facilities, returning players and weather.
Since when do people beat the doors down? Besides, my point wasn't a comparison of the two programs, it was a belief that a storied program is not going to do something as dumb as to what you're alluding to.

Pretty sure he'll turn it down does not equate to them KNOWING he'll turn it down.
I've had half a bottle of Acacia pinot noir - I apologize for the 'knowing' / 'pretty sure' mix-up.

I think his gone. The interview with Juan pretty much summed it up for me.

The fact that UM wants to formally meet with Miles means the UM search firm and Miles' agent have already agreed on something.
Really?

not a problem.... no sense arguing with me on the other stuff either, I'm just passing along what I know to be reliable info.
What Les actually does is his decision.
Your logic is a little deluded though, if LSU had a vacancy don't you think we'd like to talk to Gary Patterson, Nick Saban or Urban Meyer even we think there's only a 10% chance any of them would accept an offer?

But you said he doesn't want to embarrass his alma mater. So, if he wasn't interested, and was only being respectful, why would he agree to interview that everyone knew about, only to tell them no? Surely that would embarrass UM on a national scale, no?
I believe he is extending the courtesy of an interview. Again, like I told Rummel, this is Les Miles' logic - not mine. And this "thought" of him not accepting is coming from high up sources at UM.
Just FYI, he's friends with their AD. They went on a 10 day vacation together this summer.

No it's not.
A. You can take Saban off that list - that interview would never be allowed to happen.
B. As far as any other coach we would offer, then I'm sure we would get an idea as to how interested they were in the position. And if LSU were to offer someone that they thought would likely turn the job down, then I'd say that we were fricking stupid for making that offer.
You have to pretty much know, through the coach or agent, that the candidate is willing to accept before the offer is made. Otherwise, you look pretty stupid.
