I see where you are coming from Scrub. But Saban got to where he is by establishing an impenetrable recruiting network. I don't see Dave being quite as crafty/manipulative as Saban had to be to build his empire.
I hear you. However, the money appears to be there now, even at LSU. I can't imagine Aranda won't figure out the recruiting too.

Fan fav. Already a proven winner in BR and at Baylor. Defensive minded and also progressive

His offense is ranked 25th ahead of OU this year

About like a Jimbo legacy hire except Dave hasn’t accomplished shite as a head coach

Careful. You can't criticize Dave "Belichick" Aranda around here.

“Legacy hire” just means it will be the hire most associated with the AD when he’s gone. A lot will depend on how long Scott stays as much as anything, unless he just hires a guy who wins multiple championships, even after Scott has potentially moved on. That could be Dave.

Or Dave could flame out and the boosters who gave Scott tens of millions to hire Lincoln Riley get pissed and tell Scott to gtfo. Or, Dave could do well for a couple of years, bolt to the NFL, and Scott’s NEXT hire becomes his “legacy hire.” Just too many variables—some not even based on the coach’s success, really—to call Aranda a “legacy hire” at this point. But I don’t think Scott wants to hire Dave. If he does, I think a lot of shite will have had to go wrong (for Scott—I’d love Dave).

Does his recruiting at Baylor not concern you? I know it's Baylor but 34th in the country and only one 4 star recruit to a school that has recruited well in the past with previous coaches.

Dave to me would just try to make this team into another Wisconsin where we wouldn't get the best talent but more of guys Dave thinks would fit his system. He won't try and compete for top 10 classes.

He has a 12-9 record as a head coach. Let that sink in. We just paid an outrageous buyout for a coach much more successful than him. Let that sink in also

Aranda is just 12-9 as a head coach, and being able to recruit at an elite level is a question mark.

This would absolutely not be a legacy style hire or a "white whale" for Woodward.

He’s definitely smart enough. I know he’s not a splash hire, but I feel he fits the same mold as the Johnson hire.

Dave is winning with 2 and 3 star recruits.

The whole reason for this thread is that think Woodward is going to choose Dave as our next HC and Scott will think everyone will be overjoyed at the hire bc he was our championship DC.

The reality is that Dave is a great DC and person in general but as a cut throat HC that you need to recruit and do well in the evolving SEC I thing he will be just a steady guide that won't ever impress at a championship level.

How did Saban shine his first year at LSU and Alabama?
Baylor is not in the class of LSU and Alabama. Aranda made a big improvement in his second year at Baylor.
He beat Oklahoma and Riley. Riley is supposedly the Standard for excellence.

Aranda is a perfect fit and you don't need to hire some big DC

Keep Jones. Get a home run OC and time to wreck ppl

Aranda + Jones would = a "holy shite" defense.

I mean, for the train wreck it has been, Jones really turned out to be the big surprise of the season.

Section 225 said it right. Also, to the above comment what does being a "progressive" have to do with coaching a football team?

I'm just skeptic that we aren't walking ourself back into the Les Miles Era minus Les's obvious off the field antics that were hidden.

Davecis a stand up guy but I can just seem the type teams where we are leaning on defense the entire season and our offense is just barely doing its part to get wins.

You do know bama had been bad before Saban got there right? Like bad. And Aranda followed a coach leaving for the nfl, not like Saban followed a program in shambles. If the coach before aranda left for the nfl then that tells me he was having success with the program before aranda got there
