Has Butch Davis been rumored to be taking a more high profile coaching job? Just curious, he really hasn't been talked about since his debacle in the NFL with the Browns...

Had a good start with NC, this year was a major disappointment, and he is not a very good coach. He had one good year at the U and totally blew it with the Browns up to and including his legitimate mental breakdown. Not a strong guy.

He's a great recruiter. Coach, that's debatable.

He's turned around a UNC program that was dreadful when he took the job.

He also did great with what he had to work with at Miami. Miami lost 30 something scholarships under his reign.

If Miles were to leave or be fired, I'd be thrilled to have him come to LSU.

Butch Davis is one of the more overrated coaches in the country.

After he built it back up after the sanctions slapped on the program that weren't from his doing. His 2000 team should have played for the national title if the BCS wasn't fricked up. He also built arguably the greatest college team of all time in the 2001 Miami team.

North Carolina used to be horse shite. At least they're respectable now. I'd love to have seen what he could do at Notre Dame or somewhere like that.

davis was #1 on my list when saban left, now i'm not so sure. don't know if he's ready for pressure at a place like here.

UNC might be the perfect place for him. he's recruiting pretty well for carolina and is focusing alot on out of state talent.

8-4, 9-3 is good at UNC, just like making the MBB tournament is good at most football powers like UGA, Alabama, etc. Football is just a distraction during the basketball offseason. It's a good job for Davis.

good point.

prolly so. he sometimes has been hyped around here to almost mythical status, but fact is he's at a place where he can go 0-3 vs. his main rival, and apparently feel little/no heat.

btw, i think he's also 0-3 vs. Virginia (who lost to Wm./Mary).

IMO Davis is a solid coach and very good recruiter but he is a top flight coach.UNC is aprogram that can be very good.mack Brown had them at a very high level when he was there. There were a couple of years where FSU was the only team to beat them regular season. He should be doing a better job there with the talent he has and has around him to recruit.

Charlie, is that you?

ETA: If he couldn't handle the pressure at Cleveland what makes anyone think he could handle LSU? Suppose another Mcclusterfrick happened on his watch. He'd never make it back to Baton Rouge.

Do you even watch football or just spew shite? They went 8-4 this year, which is good at UNC. I also bet you didnt realize they beat Miami and Virginia Tech this year.

He's doing very well at UNC imo.

Butch Davis had a severe mental breakdown at Cleveland -- was afraid to come of the locker room for a game as one of a number of severe mental problems he had. He is not a great coach - decent, and built the U back up, and UNC is a very attractive place to go school. His lying, lack of character, and handling of players and management in Cleveland was disgraceful. They paid him a fortune to run him out of town.

He hasn't proven he can win without Larry Coker.

you said this year was a disaster at UNC. I told you that you were wrong. Now you're talking about Cleveland. Im no Davis fan, but this year was NOT a disaster by any means.
