I'm hoping for the best but I fear a Mike Archer situation coming on.

I think O can be successful with Aranda and a Kiffin or Riley at OC, but once we start getting turnover in the staff I feel the wheels will start to wobble and fall off. O isn't a out front general type, he can be a successful cog in a wheel full of other talented guys like himself.

I have supported TAF since I was a collegiate member back in 99. I truly love the school. Nothing can top my experience I gained from my time at LSU. That's why I will always be a fan and yes I dumped a bunch of money because why? Forever LSU. And I will continue to support the program, but not like I once was. There is a degree of reciprocity involved with being a lsu alum and fan. The board and Alleva have failed me and the rest of the Alums and fans miserably with this hire. This hire has a dirty feel to it. This is mike archer 2.0. Hope I am wrong

I am afraid you are right. Truly cannot believe LSU made this hire after firing Les. I was never a huge Les fan but you don't fire a coach with the proven track record he had for a journeyman coach like O. I love O and his enthusiasm but see him as an awesome DL coach.

Time will tell..... feels like Alleva just ended to golden era of LSU FB!

I will have trouble making my annual donation this year knowing that Alleva took the easy and cheap route. Forever LSU....... but this one feels wrong. Why not wait a few days and do a little more searching???? O was going nowhere...... Not many schools were beating down the door to hire him as a HC!

Yeah a revolving door of coordinators almost NEVER works. The only time it seems to consistently work is if the head coach is elite.

All things equal Ed O will recruit just as well as Les.

But he won't over step his boundries.

We will be fine

My money (and company match) just dried up, and they won't get another dime until Alleva and FKing are gone (other than having to pay tuition for my son since the turtle took TOPS away). As a state, we do a good enough job of embarrassing ourselves without our leadership egregiously doing it on a national stage.

Starting to think more of Dinardo 2.0.

O will be OK as long as his coordinators stay..

He should be good for 8 wins a year off talent alone. The problem will be always losing to Alabama, then another SEC Game, then a game wouldn't shouldn't lose. I can also see 7-5.

Yes. I'm a firm believer your head coach should be a master of one side of the ball. He should at least be the smartest guy on his staff of one side of the ball. This helps immensely with turnover.

I lived through the Archer years. O is nothing like Archer. For instance, Archer showed up at an LSU golf tournament, wearing green and white (Tulane colors). For the youngsters in here-- that is a huge No No. When asked why he was wearing those colors-- he said, "I'm tired of wearing purple and gold." I kid you not. You're at a fund raiser for LSU and you're tired of the team's colors?

Look at successful coaches-- always in team colors, publically. See Saban.

Amongst many things, the HC is the team's lead PR man. O bleeds purple and gold. Some "fan" in here criticized him for saying, "Geaux Tigers," at the close of each interview. That quick, repetitive saying sends a strong branding message.

Archer did not recruit and had the personality of a wet rag. That ultimately was his undoing. Recruiting hurt talent, resulted in losses and Archer had zero support from fan base that he alienated. O excels at recruiting! He may not succeed as HC, but his is no where close to Mike Archer. And he will not leave the program without talent.

I have similar fears, but at least CEO had a previous stint as an SEC head coach whereas Archer only had experience as a coordinator.

Geaux Tigers!
