My first time reading this board this year and that’s exactly what it reminded me of too!

The problem with these rumors, it makes us look like we settle when the big name doesn’t come here.

Difference is Alleva in that case was countered by Herman (after Herman had agreed then we were beaten by UT offer) and Alleva got his feelings hurt and hired a defensive line coach that was 3-21 in the SEC as a head coach, had been to rehab 3 times, and could barely speak the English language.

I think we're in better hands.

It's not a shite show this time around.

The relevant question is does Aranda come back or feels jilted..

This particular forum is frikin awesome.

I love it when it comes up. Hate that we have to keep looking for coaches. But this is a bright spot.

I'm not. Birdbrain Alleva isn't at the helm, and we already know 100% Ed is gone from LSU in a few weeks--not waiting in the OPS building with a fricking binder.

This is nothing like 5 years ago for me.

We might not get Riley, but we're damn sure not getting an incompetent moron like O.

Yep, this road seems all too familiar. However, I would be perfectly happy with Aranda or Campbell.

That said, if we end up with Napier, truth is, we have a problem. If you fire your coach midseason and pay a 17 mil buyout leading to a month + long search and you end up with a Sunbelt coach, there is a much bigger problem than we know.

Exactly what I keep thinking. Put Herman's name in all these post in place of Riley... See what that got us 5 yrs ago...??

Jimbo

I don't think most LSU fans would be happy if it turns out to be Jimbo. It would be a let down. I'd rather have Aranda or Campbell. Jimbo is damaged goods.

As long as it doesn't fall to fookin Kiffin, we'll be fine.

You don’t even have to go that far back. They said Marcus Freeman had signed the contract and look how that turned out.

Exactly. If Napier was the guy we wanted all along this would have been done in October. He's a good coach and will do well somewhere, maybe at LSU. But if we end up with him now, it means we struck out several times and had to settle.
