As a Michigan alum I really wish we already knew what was going to happen. The silence is killing me, however I get it. Considering the fiasco that happened in 2007 I doubt anything will be made public until it is 100% in place if a change is made. Either we go to Harbaugh, or we keep RR. Either way, I really believe those are the only two option. If we don't get Jimmy, we won't make a change.
I basically agree with this. Where i think it could go wrong is this...
They can't sign Harbaugh until after they fire RR. After that it can still fall thru. NFL teams will have more money to give and i think that is ultimately where he wants to be. I worry about a situation where UM THINKS they have Harbaugh sown up, fire RR, and then an NFL team swoops in and grabs him.
At that point they have no RR and no Harbaugh...then they would look at Miles. He would be the only viable option left for them.

Given 2007, and the absolute clusterf*$# it turned out to be (even though Martin knew for how long Lloyd was retiring), there is no way Brandon does anything without 100% assurance from Harbaugh that he will in fact be the coach and will not change his mind even if the NFL offers.
We'll know soon enough but you have to think if Brandon is getting ready to make a change, he's keeping it very close to the vest in case things don't work out. If no changes are made it looks like we never offered anyone, even though speculation will run wild anyway.
Thats where it stops though. I never say never, but I very seriously doubt that Miles will even be considered. Not because he's not a great coach and has Michigan ties, but quite frankly he's older and I think they want someone long term. Given that, even with Harbaugh being enamored by the NFL, I think Brandon is just the person to convince Harbaugh this is a long term job. We'll see. All I know is, it's going to be a very long month.

Thats interesting on the age thing...
but i guarantee you if they hired Miles he would be at UM longer than Harbaugh will.

Not to mention, Les would have UM contending for Big-ten titles within 3 years. Les would definitely be a major upgrade to what they have now.
And I hope they are dumb enough to keep RR another year. LSU would get hosed if they came after Miles. I just want Les to hire another OC, and we are talkin SEC championship in 2011

I don't think you guys have anything to worry about to be honest. Michigan won't offer him whether its this year, or next year for that matter, and I seriously doubt Miles leaves LSU unless hes fired. You guys got him until he wants to retire, assuming he keeps producing winning seasons.
(again I think Miles is a great coach, he was actually my first choice in 2007, I just really believe it's done for UofM and they won't ever revisit it)
