We can talk all we want about how great a program, facilities, etc. LSU has, but it's all a matter of TIMING--all the tremendous, impact hires just signed contract extensions.
Gruden will save the day

Pellini would be WAY down my list. I would rank a few of them this way:
Patterson
Mullen
Del Rio (if he is really a possibility

2018 extension....
pretty sure TCU saw the coaching clusterfrick was about to happen and locked chubbs up
no way Pelini is in the realistic top 3 that LSU would consider. Lot of guys would need to say "frick you" before he got the call IMO.
If Miles leaves LSU is going for the home run hire, most sought after guys out there with a blank check.

Mullen and Pelini should be called before Patterson

Pelini would be the last guy I`d call. The Huskers aren`t even in the top 25.

adding 2 years to his contract did not lock Patterson up.
LSU should make a run at him.

I def think they should make a run at him but it just seems unlikely he leaves.
TCU has invested a lot banking on him being there when they go to the BE (150 million + his extension), it just seems like hes pretty content there.

I say go after Kevin Sumlin at Houston and tell him to keep the defensive staff in place. His offense is amazing, and he would have Mettenberger already commited as his qb. With Chavis running the defense, the team should not lose a beat next year.

That's just delusional.

And why do so many posters think that Mullen was both offered and turned down the UF job? I think he lost interest in going to Miami when UF popped up so Miami went in another direction. UF then chose to go with Muschamp. I don't think nor has anyone ever said that Mullen was offered the UF job. Does anyone honestly believe that Mullen would pick to stay at State over one of the top three jobs in the country? bullshite. He would be there if they had offered.

I think Del Rio makes around $3 million. Am I wrong?
If we could actually pull him away from the NFL he would probably retain some of our key recruiters too.
If we can't get him I think we are screwed. Only other coach off the top of my head I would want is Sarkesian (Washington, sp?).
I want a coach who will run a pro style offense.

Sarkisian would be a good hire but not sure if he would leave UW. He's been on the west coast for a while and UW is going to great lengths to show they care about the football program.
