LSU should hire Art Briles as OC and not look back. Kiffin would be a great hire, but how long until the next "Houston" program comes calling and we are searching for an OC all over again.

I think Briles would be a homerun hire. His offenses at Baylor were awesome. He turned that program around. He could bring Stidham in as well.

Art Briles has a bad reputation and nobody would take a chance on him for HC like they would Kiffin. But LSU could really make a great hire by giving this coach a second chance

Not going to happen....still way too much baggage....that nationally televised interview when he was point back asked "did you know", the answer was yes and then tears

Ponamsky is already on top of this. People need to stop worrying.

I don't think people quite understand the blowback that would occur if LSU hired him. It goes way beyond "oh that was a bad hire! Let's all laugh at LSU!"

It's not even an option and if it is, holy frick Alleva can't go away soon enough

He could ease back into coaching. He's to blame yes for the scandals that went on at Baylor. But his blame is partial along with Baylor Admin. Being a coordinator would be a great way to get out of the spotlight. Look at bama hiring Sark and Kiffin

Everybody talks about this. Everyone says what a bad thing it would be and it could ruin LSU. I don't believe that will or could happen. He screwed up at Baylor. He would leave his past at Baylor. Start new.

What I think people would say would be

Damn LSU just got a very good coach, and now they might open things up on offense. Better watch out for that powerhouse being built in Baton Rouge with Orgeron, Briles, and Aranda

can we just scratch O and start the hell over with this whole process?

I like it less than i did a week ago, which was not at all.

If you actually believe that would be the narrative you are exceedingly clueless.

Rape dude. You're acting like he just screwed up with alcoholism or sanctions. This person helped keep rape cases quiet for his players. Not even in the same ballpark dude. Seriously as much as i hate kiffin briles is 20x as bad.

Why are sports coaches held to higher standards that U.S. presidents? Honest question.

I would love to believe that, but that's just not the reality at this point. Alleva can't scratch his nose right now without being criticized by both the fans and the media.

The fan base is criticizing him for hiring O and possibly missing on Kiffin (and rightfully so).

The media is criticizing him for the Florida situation and for talking to Tom Herman (Why, I have no idea. We were never committed to O).

He will get DESTROYED for hiring Briles. As much as I would love having an offensive genius like him on staff, it would be a bad move.

hire Art Briles

Briles would be so easy to recruit against - especially when talking to mommas of recruits. You won't have to say anything. Just ask and imply. They'll do the digging and decide they don't want their kids around that.

Also, the PR hit would be pretty intense. I don't know that O has enough equity build up to withstand that type of hire. Maybe in LA, but not on a national level.

There are half a dozen options that would run to LSU for the opportunity and they wouldn't complicate things for a first year head coach in the slightest the way Briles would.

I understand what you are saying. I just believe that a Kiffin or Briles hire could make up for the lack thereof offense that Orgeron could provide.

This OC hire has to be a homerun. Not for Orgeron's sake, not for Alleva'a sake, but more so the sake of this team

LSU can't sustain national contention with Orgeron and Aranda alone. They have got to have an offense

Alleva should, but won't hire Brikes. If we don't get Kiffin, I'm all about sinking this ship sooner than later so we can revert back to 1999 as soon as possible!
