... for Fedora or Gundy. Hard to believe Chip would say no. His seat is hot as hell in San Francisco, with no QB help on the horizon. Him going back to Oregon might feel too much like giving up. Stoops has gotta be sick of grumbling, spoiled Sooner fans. At least nationally, Chip and Stoops would be much more impressive hires.

You realize Stoops is king of the Big-12 for the forseeable future? Especially if Texas screws up their hire. He ain't leaving.

THIS!!!!!!!

I cannot understand the infatuation some people here have with "chip". There's a few more coaches that I'd prefer over that overhyped stick in the mud.

So obviously he should come to LSU.

Chip would be a square peg in a round hole fit here, even if he decided to leave the NFL. It has a Rich Rod to Michigan feel to it. But Chip ain't leaving the NFL

I'm not inventing this Chip Kelly speculation out of whole cloth, you know. There was a whole segment on PTI about Kelly going back to college earlier this week and plenty national media pundits have suggested the same. Don't act like Kelly dismissing it means anything, that's what coaches always do. If you don't want him, fine, but don't mock the idea of him returning to college for a hella big payday. Stoops may be less likely, but there were complaints from Oklahoma alums like the Boz out in the open after a couple losses earlier this season.

Several NFL coaches expect Kelly to hit "eject" and go back to college

Number of times losing 3 games in a year in the last decade:

Stoops: 5
Fedora: 7 (only a head coach 8 years)
Jimbo: 5 (only a head coach 8 years)
Les: 6

Pretty depressing.

If this is your deciding factor, our only options are Saban, Urban, or someone who hasn't been a head coach for long (or ever). Plenty of failures had one or two great years at a small school. That being said, I made it clear Herman and Jimbo would have to say no before moving on to Stoops or whoever.

Edit: I SHOULD have made it clear Herman would also have to say no.

Chip is not coming back to college and he hates recruiting, let it go.

I really don't know who I want as HC if Herman doesn't take it. But the point was really that Stoops, Jimbo, and Fedora have looked a lot like Les record-wise. I think with our talent they'd all be better.

Not true. The big 12 may not even exist in 5 years.
