So one of the top 3-5 coaches currently in the game is a lazy uninspired hire?

Hell the fact that Kelly would leave ND, one of the most significant programs in US sports history, to come to LSU should make us all happy. It tells what good coaches thing of the LSU job.

And he is on the verge of another top 5 finish in an era where ND has significant disadvantages.

Forget about him from a personality standpoint for a moment.

Why would any of us not be thrilled with him as the new HC.

Not that it matters, I doubt he’s the guy.

And those results are without many of the types of players as LSU, Bama, and Clemson. We are a football first school. They are not.

Why? He's a winner at a place that is difficult to win. Sure he killed a kid and is a prick, but do you want a Saint or do you want a winner?

I personally think Brian Kelly would do VERY well here.

Hiring a prick that’s never won a title doesn’t inspire me much.

I’m not sure I see the culture fit.

Decent chance Kelly might have his 3rd top 5 season in the last 4 years

Yeah, I dont know why anyone would doubt a Kelly hire. All he does is win conference championships everywhere he goes, and may be in playoffs again this year.

I've made this point in previous threads, but at the risk of being redundant .......

If it's Kelly, the keyboard warriors will hate the hire. He's not the biggest, splashiest, sexiest name. We won't win the internet on a day if/when we hire Brian Kelly.

But, we shouldn't care about winning the internet or the daily news cycle. Considering Miles and Orgeron won national titles here, imagine what a truly top level coach could do. Brian Kelly, by any objective measurement, is one of the top coaches in college football. He would crush it at LSU if he has any gas left in the tank.

Nick Saban wasn't on anyone's radar when he got the LSU gig. He certainly wasn't the biggest, splashiest name back then. LSU made Nick Saban.

Holy sh!t. What was Saban's resume when he got the gig? Just a terrible take.

Love Dave, but if it was Kelly, it'd be a damn solid pull.

Sorry

Just go hire Rhule, Fickell, Kiffin, or Aranda and hop on the recruiting trail.

Does it mean we go 11-1 and win the SEC West?

So no to the winningest coach in Notre Dame history...who has been to multiple playoff appearances and a National Championship game...but Dave Aranda, who has proven very little as a Head Coach, barely about .500 is the guy.

I love Aranda, but come on people, get your head out of your asses.

I disagree. If LSU hires the coach from Notre Dame who's 44-6 the last 4 years it'll be universally praised everywhere but here.
