I won't criticize him of he fails to hire Riley. But I will criticize him vocally if his fixation on Riley or other marquee targets leaves us in a position where we have to hire a horrible back-up option. We'll see how it all turns out.

Money, power, and prestige. He's a much better offensive minded coach than both Miles or Orgeron, plus Saban is getting old and his defenses getting soft. He'll have Walker Howard carving up your Bama defenses like a sharp knife does a Thanksgiving turkey, and he'll have championship caliber defenses along with his offense.
Heck LSU should have beat your arses this season with a lame duck coach, medocre qb play, and a DC /OC that lacked real experience. Be very afraid of LSU with Riley, it's going to be a NEW day of reckoning in Death Valley.

Petersen guided the Broncos to two BCS bowl wins: the (2006 Season) 2007 and (2009 Season) 2010 Fiesta Bowls. Fisher wasn’t doing well at the time though and his administration and him hated each other. OU is still near the top of the CFB world and OUs program is on a different level than FSU despite the Bowden years.
This would be a much bigger coup. But I’m still not sure it’s possible.

Well there's some that say it has to be Riley. Those are the ones that are going to lose their shite if this doesn't happen. If it has to be Riley, then you have to see it through to the end and risk being in a worse position.
I see a lot of people having fun with the whale hunting references. People seem to forget that whaling is an inherently dangerous activity. There's risk when you aim for major targets. If we want a sure thing, go for someone that'll sign on the dotted line today.
