Notre Dame can, and will, do much better than Paul Johnson.

Their facilities are second to none, they've got tons of money, they can have the ear of just about every single major recruit in the country...

It's not that hard to win at Notre Dame... they've just hired a pack of idiots... they're not gonna make that mistake this time -- it's gonna be a major guy ($7 million wouldn't surprise me at all).

ND would never go after BAMAs coach in my opinion. It would be like us going after Auburns coach, it would just never happen. They would never admit that they need what we have in order to win.

Their coaching hire will tell you a lot about the mentality at ND right now. If they hire kelley then you know they want a coach that will win and keep their academic and professional standards, if they come in and throw major cash at Meyer or Saban they want that program to win at all costs.

Bama has not been ND's nemesis for quite some time, as in 50 years so they are not concerned with Bama IMO they are wondering do we go after Saban and win at all costs or do we risk another up and comer.

I assume he is refering to Bama playing them in bowl game in the 70s, Bama played them in the 80s as well but Bama was not ND's Nemesis heck Bama wasn't the SEC's nemesis during the 80s.

ND football has become an embarrassment to its alumni - in some ways ND is just where the Tide was a few years ago

I would expect them to do exactly what Al- did

Roll out the cash and go after the best

If I'm NOTRE DAME.. and I'm gonna throw the kind of money you are talking about, I'd throw it at Meyer and Saban....ADMIT IT....you'll feel better..

I think Paul Johnson is a 9 or 10 wind coach each season. I don't think that is what ND is looking for.

This is exactly right. I find it humorous that the media is acting the same way with ND that they did with Bama a couple of years ago, ie. "Been irrelevant, will remain mediocre, not gonna get Meyer, Stoops, No one wants to coach there, blah, blah, blah". I truly believe that ND will get their man and that guy will have won a National Title and will be a big name and ND will return to national prominence quickly. That being said, if they don't throw the bank at the best coach and instead hire a good up and coming coach, ie Kelly, they're done. At least in the sense of Elite Program. Yeah they're gonna win 9-10 a bunch, lose a bunch of BCS games, but never sniff the National Title or national prominence. The same would have happened at Bama if we would have hired Paul Johnson, Rich Rod, etc. 3 years ago.

It's the best they can do over the next 10-20 years.

Because Bama would never admit that they needed what LSU had.

I don't think Notre Dame would hire Paul Johnson or anyone that runs the triple option because they would then be "lowering themselves" to the service academy route. Notre Dame would never look at themselves like an Army, Air Force or Navy, even though Navy has beaten them 2 out of 3 years. However, their admission requirements almost make their talent pool equal to the service academies.

They would be stupid not to at least ask Saban.

And how is that different than Bama recently? You haven't won anything yet, and that will continue when Florida beats you down on Saturday.
