Why do you think coaches run to schools that put more resources into football
Their DC made 500 last year, and their OC (major applewhite) made 300.
We pay almost double those combined salaries on both OC, and on DC.
800k vs almost 3 million dollar budget on Coordinators.
Herman didn't have aranda at UH not because he didn't want him, he couldn't afford him

my source told me there is a connection between Aranda and Herman, I believe he mentioned them being roommates.

Even if he does, Todd Orlando is an excellent DC. Not much of a drop, and he actually played at Wisconsin and followed Aranda as the DC at Utah State. His defenses are always Top 15 nationally in yards against.

And also just for the record, I wouldn't be too upset about Orlando coming in as DC. Love his agressive style defense. Remind me of the saints D when they won the super bowl. They create turnovers

After having Art Briles, Kevin Sumlin, and Tom Herman, I think Houston will stick to hiring offensive guys. That's what has made them good in stretches throughout history. Could be Applewhite, or even Kendal Briles. Maybe Tony Petersen can finally get him a HC gig.

To your point, how do you know Herman wouldn't have gone after Aranda if Houston was willing to pay for a top dc? I'm sure he went out and got the best dc that UH was willing to pay for. Maybe, not exactly who Herman would have preferred if he had the option.

I laugh because you guys actually think a top rated coach is going to come here and not bring his own people.
To some of you "room mates in college" equates to growing up together, marrying sisters in a joint wedding, and spending every vacation together plotting how they can someday coach the same team.
