Do you remember the last time Florida hired a Saban disciple that “checked every box”?

If you compare somebody from West Virgina and LSU you shouldn’t talk football. Rich Rod left West Virginia because they wouldn’t give him 500k more for assistants lol.

As LSU and USC are about to prove, this is just not a box you can check.

Say what you want, but even G5 guys from much stronger programs in the AAC and MWC have struggled to make the move up. The Fun Belt is a world away from where we are and most coaches at that level make an intermediate move first (Urban to Utah after Toledo. Row the Boat to MN. Brohm to Purdue). I get that Napier thinks he’s better than that, but that’s no reason to indulge his personal fantasies.

Look at recent title winners and playoff appearances and the evidence is pretty clear- getting the right P5 coordinator/AHC is usually more reliable than going the G5 route. Day, Dabo, Riley, Fisher and Smart with Aranda looking like he is close to that level and on the way up. It’s a more reliable path. Based on this, I’m with you on looking at Elko over a Stoops or BOB.

Dumb argument.

The advantages you get at LSU are the same for every coach.

My point is, dominating the Sun Belt isn’t the same as being a great coach.

Most of the team in the sun belt suck and at any given time 1-2 are good.

Success is always relative and those guys aren’t even having success relative to Louisville or Wear Virginia

I’m sick of the regurgitated Napier nonsense. I’ve asked numerous of vocal Napier fans what exactly they liked about him and how many full games they’ve watched and really haven’t heard a great argument. And if I had to take a guess Id say more than half of them haven’t watch a total of 30 minutes of UL football. He may be the next best coach to make jump to SEC from non power 5 conference but it’s complete gamble
