“I think Coach had only been on the phone with Russ for six or seven minutes and I was just sitting there and Coach looked at me,” said Derek Ponamsky, LSU’s special assistant to the head coach. “And from being with Coach every day for the last couple years, I kind of get a good vibe for it. And then Coach was just like, ‘Russ, why don’t you come on down, man? I’d love for you to be a part of what we’re doing here.’ And it’s been 110 miles an hour every day since then.”
Derek already getting the media behind his next...I mean O's hire

sure but ones that make as much or more than the OC in name is not the norm. Here its been a role to help prop up a guy O is loyal to

what were our stats looking like the first 3 games of the season with Myles as the QB?
Red Zone and 3rd down were still fricking atrocious and so was our running game.
Idk if you remember but our offense scored 27 on Miss State and stalled on the 1 yard line for four downs to lose to Missouri.
There were fricking issues before Brennan went down.

4 plays 1 yard to win it.
Quit pretending that acceptable.
Hit pretending like going 1/12 on 3rd and 4th downs isn’t an Issue.
73rd scoring defense
They e given up 41 or more 4/9 games

With a Qb that was playing through a season ending injury.
They should’ve scored but it’s ridiculous that the defense couldn’t hold that Missouri team to less than 40.
Is the offense perfect? No. But they’ve been good enough to win all but 2 games this year if the defense had a pulse.

We scored 7,11 and 17 points in 3 of our loses.
Wake up.

True freshman QBs. One of those was his first road SEC start in arguably the hardest place to win on the road in the country. He also isn't the one currently running the offense but has done a decent to good job with the QBs this year all things considered.
Go ahead and bitch and moan and complain about people wanting and liking Callaway but the guys resume is better then brady and has actually been an OC before.
quote:
For the last two seasons, Callaway mentored record-setting quarterback Devlin Hodges. In 2018, Hodges earned the Walter Payton Award for the top offensive player in all of FCS football. That season, Hodges set a school record with 4,283 yards. For his career, the three-time SoCon Offensive Player of the Year and All-American, passed for an FCS-record 14,584, breaking the old record set by Steve McNair.
As a unit in 2018, Samford's offense led the nation in passing yards per game (392.7). The offense ranked fourth nationally in total offense (515.9 ypg.), and eighth in both red zone offense (.898) and in first downs (298).
The team’s 2017 offense led the SoCon and ranked fifth in the nation in passing yards per game (33.4 ypg.). In 2016, Callaway’s offense ranked third among all FCS schools in passing offense, averaging 349.4 passing yards per game. The offense also ranked sixth in the nation in red zone offense (90.2%), 11th in team passing efficiency (155.24), 12th in scoring offense (35.1 ppg.) and 14th in total offense (446.2 ypg.).

There are a lot of people with a better resume than Brady, who aren’t better than Brady or even better than average.
This guy has never called plays at a P5 college level. He isn’t helping call plays currently and people want to just hand him the reigns because Samford was good?

I’m old enough to remember when the Orgeron model was to hire elite and proven coordinators.
Matt Canada was "elite and proven"
Joe Brady wasn't
Which would you rather have back?

So are you just going to pick and choose when resumes matter and when they dont?

Can confirm. You are an idiot.

Never called plays at a college level? That’s exactly what he did was call plays at a college level. Did the guy steal your high school girlfriend or something? Not sure what your beef is with him? We gave Brady a chance and the only thing on his resume was that he was a quality control coach (analyst) with saints and that’s all. Took a chance on someone who had never called a play in his life, and your arguing about giving someone a chance who called plays for one of the top offenses in the nation year after year. Check your facts.
Posted on 12/15/20 at 3:29 pm to tiger25
Callaway must’ve crossed him at some point so he’s here to try to ruin all credibility. Too bad he doesn’t have the facts to back any of the crap he’s posting
Posted on 12/15/20 at 3:42 pm to Rjames57
I misspoke. I know Samford is a college
My point is, why are we jumping to hire a guy who was an FCS Coordinator? We can probably go out and get a good FBS coordinator. And iI haven’t been blown away by this years offense.
Has his one year as an assistant in this shite show of an offense impressed you that much?

The same could have been said of Brady. but you can continue to be inconsistent to fit your narrative.

How does this fall on Callaway? Stop reaching

For every Brady there are 1000 guys who absolutely don’t have what it takes. I understand that Brady’s resume was short, but that doesn’t mean everyone with a short resume is Brady. Also, if you remember we were looking for someone willing to take 450k and PGC position. We need a full on OC at this point.
So why do you like this guy? I’m not sold on Southland Conference Coordinator experience. That’s fricking Nichols level ahit.

If he could offer something why isn’t he?

He’s offering you elite QBs dipshit
Our starting QB was throwing for more than burrow .... we just didn’t have a defense to back him up. And now we have a QB that just beat the #6 team in the nation on his first start. I’d say he’s offering plenty. You probably need to just stop posting ....... your idiot is showing more and more

This is the fricking dumb arse logic that leads to bad hires.
We’re gonna pretend Brennan, a 4th year player who was in the system last year when we had good coaches is a product of Callaway?
Like Joe Burrow was a product of Munoz? How’s Baylor’s offense look?
Wait, don’t E and Linehan coach QBs too?

Considering the fact that he coached him all off season and during the season yeah I would give him some of the credit. I would also give him the credit with how well Max and TJ have played this year when they obviously weren't suppose to see the field.

Burrow has given a lot of credit to Munoz for what happened last year which is why he was in New York with him you fricking dumbass. If we listen to you we should hire more Linehans and less Brady types. Cause that has worked out so fricking well.
