Archer was 32 years-old when he became head coach. It was Arnsparger who engineered deal. Archer was smart, but very immature. Arnsparger won with Stovall's recruits and then after three years dumped the upcoming fiasco in Archer's lap.
Interestingly LSU is the only head coaching job that Mike Archer has ever held.
