I think Strong is a good coach as well, but Texas was clearly not, and still isn't happy with him.

bullshite. At LSU you have to kiss the ring of LA politicians and deal with a fanbase that expects you to beat Saban.

Texas is a way easier job.

Isn't texas about to fire a coach in his 3rd year?

Not like Strong wasn't a hot name at some point.

At Texas, you have to deal with all of the bullshite that comes with being the head coach of Texas. Texas' administration, AD, faculty and boosters are so far up your arse, you would be a glorified puppet.

At LSU, you have to deal with none of the bullshite that comes with being the head coach of LSU

I had no idea LSU was a zero pressure job.

LSU's next head coach is already coaching the team unless he completely collapses.

If the Texas job opens up and Herman picks them, it wont be because they offered some ridiculous amount of money over LSU. LSU has the money to compete with any school in the country. This whole notion that Texas(and even people say Houston) has so much money that they will get whatever they want is absurd. If this were the case, why dont they go throw 15+ million at Saban? Herman will go to Texas for reasons that arent money imo.

I think they did throw an absurd amount at Saban and he told them no. That's why they ended up with Strong.

Top reason NOT to go to Texas--The Longhorn Network. Bottomless pit of distraction for the head coach to which he is contractually obligated.

That would be fun to see them eat years worth of crow about Rumlin. Too bad we would never let that happen and the result would be another Sumlin pay raise.

I love how people just assume that Herman would pick Texas because it's Texas. He could come to LSU, cherry pick this state as he pleases. Still recruit the Houston area which has always been a strong recruiting base for LSU. Come here with a boat load of talent already on the team.

Go to Texas where the pressure is much greater. Have to compete in recruiting against his former team Houston, TCU, Texas A&M, Baylor, Oklahoma and LSU.

I'm not sure who is more willing to spend more in a given situation, but UT is a dumpster fire right now. UT is far from owning the state/region in recruiting. It's more of a rebuilding job, so it depends on how much Herman wants to rebuild or not.

There are also staff considerations... how much does Herman want to keep vs LSU and UT wanting to keep?

Does Herman want to own the state he's in and still be able to recruit nationally like we have, or fight with OU, TAM, TCU, etc for Texas scraps?

I think if there is a money difference it will be marginal compared to a situational difference.

He might want to live in a bigger city and prefer Austin... who knows, but this decision is so much bigger than cash.

Hell, if you're paying $15m you might as well throw it at Belichick, he's making half that.

Charlie Strong took over a down Louisville team and turned them around in a major way. He was as much of a 'hot prospect' as Tom Herman was, just a few years ago.

Charlie Strong looked like the safest bet in college football when he was hired. His failure is one of the biggest reasons I believe Texas has bigger issues than who the HC is.

correct sir
