I could see why Crowton would get another year.

If we were forced to buyout Les Miles contract next year it wouldn't be very attractive to incoming coaches to not be able bring in thier own OC. If we fire Crowton this year and then have to fire Miles next year our incoming coach is prob stuck with whatever OC miles hires. So if next year is a bad year fire them both.

i think miles has more say in the immediate decision than this point you made indicates.
on the otherhand your point is a good one and this consideration may temper the pressure that the AD puts on miles (despite the fans screaming "sack him.") They may be holding back on the pressure to hedge their bets for next year.

If we're skimping on OC buyouts we can forget about ever competing with the elite of the SEC again. Even Hyman Roth Bertman thinks that is being cheap.

very true.
Lsu will not pay what it takes. It will be hard to compete with alabama and tennessee and what they are dishing out.
but then again florida has the lowest paid coordinators in the country.
then agian lsu could get the most out of average coaches due to our talent base.

LSU can afford a pitiful $1 million dollar buyout. Anyone who thinkis otherwise is an idiot. That is pocket change to LSU.
If Crowton stays its because Les Miles wants him to and no other reason. Les may be using him for a fall guy for next year or he may actually think Crowton will get better. Then again, he may can his arse after the bowl game and promote Gonzales, idk. But what I do know is that money isnt the issue.
