He got his arse kicked by his neighbor in Oxford because he was a drunk idiot and challenged the guy. Guy accepted and beat his arse right in his own front yard. He’s a loser. And a backstabbing con man.

He needs to stop doing interviews. Not helping himself or LSU.

Say what you want about Coach O, but this man assembled the best team college football has ever seen. Assembling a team includes the best assistant coaches as well, and then convincing the best players to come be coached by them. He may be just a DL coach, but maybe the best. He may be just a recruiter, but maybe the best. 2019 was lightning in a bottle, but like in Scarface, don’t forget who put this thing together, mane

At his first meeting with the Reb's big boosters, a cocktail party -like environment, he took off his shirt & got down in a 3 point stance & invited the boosters to do the same. They were in too much of a shock to do anything except stare at him, open mouthed.

What the hell have we done?”

How did he go about getting the job?

He spent a year he was out of coaching as a regular guest on a morning sports radio show in BR during football season. Basically, he was campaigning for jobs. That led to him being hired as LSU's DL coach.

When Les was fired, O was named the interim HC. He IMMEDIATELY began campaigning for the permanent LSU HC job. His first order of business was hiring one of the radio co-hosts to become his special assistant. He then made it a point to do the exact opposite of the things Les did that pissed off everyone.

The fans hated Cam Cameron as OC. Ed fired him on day one. The fans hated the special teams coach. Ed fired him on day one. Les wasn't very receptive of former players returning and being around the program. Ed immediately opened the door wide open to former players and made it a point to invite them all back in. So much so, that he had former players leading the team into the stadium for some games. Les granted little access to the media. Ed opened everything up and allowed the media (almost) as much access as they wanted. He made it a point try to galvanize big support for him from the former players and the fans (through a friendly media).

He had a decent record as the interim HC, but wasn't at the top of the list for the permanent job by any means. LSU's primary target was Tom Herman and, to maybe a lesser extent, Jimbo Fisher. Still, at the beginning Ed demanded that as a condition of him accepting the interim HC job he be allowed a fair shot and to interview for the permanent job.

In advance of that Ed and his assistant prepared the infamous "binder" that laid out in detail his plan for how to make LSU great if he was named HC. The general summary was (1) Keep Dave Aranda as DC; (2) Hire Lane Kiffin away from Alabama to be OC; (3) Ed would focus mostly on recruiting and stay out of the way of the in-game operations...allowing his coordinators to do that.

Still, LSU planned to hire Tom Herman. Then Herman's agent started to leak information during the Thanksgiving night LSU v. A&M game that a deal was close to being finalized between LSU and Herman. The purpose of that information being leaked was to try to force Texas's hand to fire Charlie Strong because Herman wanted the Texas job (if available). It worked. Texas fired Strong the next day and Herman immediately pivoted to Texas. LSU's AD, Joe Alleva, was pissed because he thought he and Herman had an agreement in place. Not wanting to be shown up by Texas, Joe scheduled a press conference on Saturday morning to announce O had been named the permanent HC.

Regardless of what you think about his X's and O's , he does deserve credit for that emotional intelligence. Part of what made him a great recruiter.
