Let's face facts. The entire LSU fanbase, administration, & AD thought people would be banging down it's doors to coach for LSU. And that doesn't seem to be the case. Why that is? Idk. That's a different discussion. But, countless coaches/agents used LSU to get raises or facility upgrades. Riley/USC used LSU as a smokescreen to hide their coup. & Meanwhile LSU is down to having to try to court BK lol (who is probably just using them to get a raise and/or facility upgrades too.) Should've swallowed their pride & hired the dude that was qualified and practically begging to turn LSU into a perenial power. Instead they'll get to face him every year for the next 10 years. But hey guess Mark Stoops will do fine i guess.

We all thought Riley was coming.
Now we all think the sky is falling.
What if we have our guy and they announce Monday after conference championships games?

You are 1000% right, OP.
Not even giving Napier a look was very petty and small-minded on the part of LSU.
He would have made LSU a hell of a coach.
Now look what a mess they have on their hands.

The melting here will be so much fun to look back at when BDW drags his nuts with his top candidate.

I hope to be wrong. Sincerely. Doesn't look like it though right now.

Stop looking at Woodward as some elite AD.
Anybody can make big swings for big names with other people's money. It doesn't take any kind of skill to identify big names and throw money at them.
Even his "big-time" hires were aided by circumstances.
Jimbo wanted out of FSU...Woodward threw ungodly money at him.
Mulkey was at a small private Baptist school. She's from Louisiana...Woodward threw money at her.
Woodward doesn't have that string of mutual interest to pull on anymore, no extenuating circumstances. Now, he has to rely on his skill. We're finding out he has none.

We think it’s a positive that Miles and O proved that any old idiot can win a title here. But really, smart guys see that and think that they’ll look really bad if they come here and can’t even beat the results of those two guys.

We never learn. We’ve never gotten our first choice for coaches and except Nick (who is a different breed), we’ve had to hire coaches that were not receiving any interest elsewhere.
In four to five years when we are doing this again, we will still act the same way.
